Traditional in style , it is rich and peppery on the nose with great intensity and length on the finish. It is, we think, unbeatable in this category (12 x 75 cl)

Quinta das Maias Jean Tinto Dao Portugal
Description: At the eastern end of the Dao region, 700m up into the foothills of the Estrela mountains, Maias boasts 12 hectares of mostly sixty year old vines. It is a magical and remote place, which is gradually being restored by Luis Lourenco of Quinta dos Roques. Jaen is the predominant black grape in the region and here it has produced a garnet coloured wine with plenty of dark forrest fruit aromas as well as hints of oak from barrel ageing. A great refelction of the terrior and cool climate Maias is renowned for this wine is showing smokiness combined with fruit purity. In the mouth the wine is powerful, with very soft tannin, while it is complex finishing in a long lingering style. (12 x 75 cl)
