Description: A fine wine with a focus on the fruit this is a light gold coloured 100% Chardonnay. Displaying tropical fruit aromas it is full bodied with a creamy character and length on the finish. Founder and former racing car driver turned wine producer, Alan Heath, purchased from his retiring next door neighbour a 100 year old dairy farm in the premium wine growing region the 'Adelaide Hills' in South Australia. Paying great attention to soil type, climate, row sizes, ripping, water quality, varieties and cloning attracted the immediate attention of Penfolds who contracted the fruit from his premium vineyard for a number of years. The purchase of the Vineyard was the start of a journey that culminated with the formation of Heath Wines in 1998. Alan's days as a grower taught him some valuable lessons. Sourcing of fruit is driven by the 'best sub-region for each varietal' and the 'best vineyard for each sub-region.' As a result of this Alans philosophy is simple 'We are committed to and focus on producing handcrafted wines with fruit driven varietal flavours, structure and balance.' (12 x 75 cl)

Jackson Wine Estates STONESTREET Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley California
Description: J. Stonestreet & Sons Vineyard & Winery began in the autumn of 1989 when Jess Jackson purchased a small vineyard and winery in the rolling hills bordering southern Alexander Valley. He named the winery in honor of his late father, Jess Stonestreet Jackson, and dedicated it to the task of handcrafting wines using traditional methods while showcasing modern techniques. Stonestreet quickly garnered international acclaim for powerful red and luscious white wines. Following this early success, Jess Jackson acquired the nearby Alexander Mountain Estate in 1995 and focused Stonestreet on mountain wines, particularly the Bordeaux varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, in addition to small amounts of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc from older vineyards on the mountain. Retaining the intense mountain flavours and colour from mountain fruit demands special care. A pre-fermentation cold-soak extracted fruit flavours while minimising tannin extraction. Separate lots were then fermented at warm temperatures with either native or cultured yeast for a total of about three weeks total skin contact time. Ageing was done in thin-stave French oak barrels, coopered to Stonestreet's specifications. This served to further integrate tannins and fruit while maintaining a balanced structure. A regimen of quarterly racking with light aeration and egg white fining naturally clarified the wine and further developed the nuanced complexity and supple tannins. This wine is well-balanced with a particularly lush mid-palate and dark ruby-purple colour. An elegant structure supports layers of spicy blackberry/cassis fruit along with hints of chocolate and coffee. (12 x 75 cl)

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars HAWK CREST Merlot California
Description: Hawk Crest is the companion brand or 'house wine' of Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. Representing fine quality Hawk Crest wines have been handcrafted by the Winiarski family in the Napa Valley since 1974. Hawk Crest winemaker Mark Smith balances richly flavoured fruit from the central part of Paso Robles in San Luis Obispo County with grapes from the Red Hills district of Lake County, which lies just north of the Napa Valley and is increasingly recognized as a wine area in its own right. The Lake County fruit contributes grip and structure to the blend, balancing the rich Paso Robles fruit and creating a wine that is accessible and full of character. The wine was aged for 9 months in French oak barrels, which provided complexity and hints of vanilla to support the wine’s wealth of fruit flavours. Hawk Crest consistently delivers distinctive, balanced and approachable wines that are ready to enjoy upon release and will continue to improve with age. This Merlot displays great dimension in the nose with aromas of blueberry, ripe plum and black cherry accented by hints of violet, anise, pepper and dark chocolate. On the palate, upfront flavours of black cherry, plum and dark berries mix with medium soft tannins, sweet vanilla and well-integrated oak. A rich, silky texture and long, lingering finish are the final rewards. (12 x 75 cl)

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars HAWK CREST Cabernet Sauvignon California
Description: Hawk Crest is the companion brand or 'house wine' of Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. Representing fine quality Hawk Crest wines have been handcrafted by the Winiarski family in the Napa Valley since 1974. Hawk Crest winemaker Mark Smith draws on two distinct areas in California to craft this approachable yet well structured Cabernet Sauvignon. The climate and diverse soils of Paso Robles in California’s Central Coast provide bright red berry fruit, while the high altitude and volcanic soils of the Red Hills district in Lake County give the wine structure and depth. Additionally, small percentages of Merlot, for texture and mouthfeel, and Petit Verdot, for mid-palate grip and intensity, were also added. The wine was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels for added complexity and polish. An outstanding first impression with its vibrant ruby colour and distinctive aromas of black cherry, spice, black pepper and tobacco. This gives way to Silky tannins and dark cherry flavours that stand out against a backdrop of spicy notes and hints of vanilla. Perfectly balanced with a soft entry, well-integrated oak and a long, rich finish. (12 x 75 cl)

The remainder of the blend is allowed air contact, giving richer notes of candied apricot and orange. Approximately 20% of the blend is put through malolactic fermentation. The wine sees no oak, however it derives its creaminess and roundness from extended lees contact. Hints of citrus fruits , candied fruits and wild peach flowers. A crisp and refreshing palate, dominated by notes of lemon and apricots with hints of cinnamon and brioche. The wine displays length of flavour and balance. (12 x 75 cl)

James Herrick Syrah Vin de Pays d'Oc
Description: The James Herrick winery is situated in the coastal Mediterranean town of Narbonne in Southern France. The region is steeped in ancient Roman history and the area possesses an array of ancient artefacts. One of the most common sites are the milestones found along the old Roman roads, situated at 1000 pace intervals. Thus this wine has been named Millia Passum, which means 1000 paces, and is a tribute to the Roman heritage of the region. The inscription on the label mirrors the inscription found on the milestone outside the James Herrick winery. 10% of the blend is aged in new American oak. Nose: A concentrated nose of blackberries, black olives and pepper. Palate: A full-bodied palate, saturated with rich, ripe berry fruits. Fine tannins lead into a long, silky finish. This wine is enjoyable now, and will benefit from short term cellaring. (12 x 75 cl)
