Description: The Vigneto Rancia Chianti Classico Riserva is a brilliant rich ruby red and has a spicy nose with floral notes and wild berry nuances. Spice continues in the mouth and is nicely complemented by a dense, soft fabric of youthful tannins. Rancia, one of Felsina’s best vineyards, has been bottled as a single vineyard wine since 1983, and in our view is one of the top three wines sold under the Chianti Classico denomination. Rancia’s combination of power, finesse and length make it unbeatable. Production in 2001 was down 50% on quantities in 2000 due to frost. Description: The Bossi castle is situated in the Castelnuovo Berardenga commune in the midst of evergreen woods and fields full of fossil-rich minerals and has been a focus of local history for many centuries. Bought by the Bacci family it has been totally restored while the Bossi wines, made by oenologist Alberto Antonioni, have exalted fruit flavours; they are smooth, rich and complex, a far cry from the rustic tongue-dissolvers one associates with basic Chianti. Description: Giovanna Morganti is quickly becoming recognised as one of the best of the new generation of Tuscan winemakers. Her small estate is only three hectares and her only wine is called 'Le Trame' signifying the wheeling and dealing required to purchase the land. Giovanna's father was a legendary winemaker who believed in Tuscan varietals long before the flying oenologists identified this area as super pay-dirt. She studied oenology herself and went to the work in the mid 1980s for San Felice wines in Castelnuovo Berardenga, near Siena, on a project to plant around 300 traditional Tuscan grape varietals collected from old vineyards.
