Description:
Andre Perret's winery is located in Verlieu-Chavanay, a small village just south of Vienne. He succeeded his father in 1982 with an estate of just half a hectare and today has 8 hectares spread through the Condrieu and St Joseph appellations. Recognised as one of the top producers in the area, Andre Perret's wines have that bit of extra concentration. He also somehow manages to combine this concentration with a great deal of finesse as befits a man whose unassuming personality consistently earns the respect of his peers. Traditionally produced wine it is made from vines on average 40 years old and spent 18 months in oak barrels. This has produced a deep crimson red coloured Saint-Joseph with a fruity black cherry and prune flavour, while the tannins are present but very smooth. The palate is round and powerful yet at the same time elegant. One can identify the inimitable texture of old vines. (12 x 75 cl)

Maison Bouachon ROQUEBRUSSANNE St Joseph Description: The Bouachon family have maintained their stewardship of some of the finest wines in the Rhone since 1898. Maison Bouachon selects the finest terrains of the Rhône Valley for its wines, and for more than a century has enjoyed privileged links with the wine producers of this appellation. Facing the hillsides of Hermitage, spread over 40 kilometres, the vineyard of SaintJoseph is the largest on the right bank of the Northern Rhône. The terrain of Roquebrussane, given this nickname in the region to mean brown rock, is formed of steep shaley hills , enjoying exceptional sunshine and low yields. The vineyard has one single variety the fine-grained syrah of the North of the Rhône Valley that is very concentrated and aromatic. A fine robe of intense purple and a fruity bouquet of raspberry and blackcurrant, developing on notes of Underwood are the first things you notice about this wine. Full-bodied in the mouth, with aromas of ripe fruits, gingerbread, white pepper and tobacco, it has remarkable length in the mouth, developing into tertiary aromas of mint. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £98.75

Cave de Tain CLASSIC Hermitage Rouge AC
Description: Cave de Tain was founded in 1933 by 100 winegrowers from the district of Tain l'Hermitage. Its first president Louis Gambert de Loche was a land owner and a great humanist, from whom the Cave de Tain purchased the Hermitage vineyards. The activity of the winery was extended to include the wines of the right bank of the Rhône when growers from the SaintJosephappellation decided to join. The range was further strengthened when growers from Cornas and Saint Peray added their wines in 1947. More recently, in 1986, the Cave de Tain l'Hermitage merged with the Cave de Saint Donat, adding high qualtiy vins de pays to the range, particularly Syrah and Marsanne varietals.
