Description: BarossaValleyEstate was established in 1985 by a group of BarossaValley grape growers who saw an opportunity to add value to their harvest. Since its inception, BarossaValleyEstate has gone from strength to strength. Today the portfolio of wines comprises E&E, Ebenezer and Moculta. Each of these ranges is unique and made to a particular style. BarossaValleyEstate really does have the 'Pick of Barossa', with fruit supplied from most sections of the Valley by about 80 loyal growers. This breadth of selection gives BarossaValleyEstate a unique advantage in that the winery can produce a wide selection of premium varieties which are 100 per cent Barossa. Vibrant deep red in colour, this wine has a complex aroma, bold red plum, black currant and chocolate characters with overtones of vanillin oak. The Maturation process occurred in 50% new and 50% 1 to 2 year old American oak for 18 months. This Shiraz has a deep red colour with dark purple hues. The bouquet is showing lifted plum fruit with savoury smoked ham characters from oak maturation. The palate is sweet, with luscious fruit on the front, as well as dark plum and blackberry with subtle charry oak complexity on the back palate. It is truly one of Australia's best and most highly regarded Icon wines.The Elderton Command Shiraz grapes are grown on a selected portion of the Elderton Estate vineyard, from vines planted in the early 1900s. Grown on rich river silt soils and red brown earth over limestone, in a Mediterranean climate with cropping levels less than four tonnes per hectare. Minimal pressing, long fermentation, long term maturation and 12 months bottle age prior to release, make this quality wine complex and balanced with a long-term cellaring potential. Torbreck RUN RIG Shiraz Viognier BarossaValley Description: David Powell discovered some land in 1992 that had old Shiraz vines growing on it that were almost dead. After nursing them back to health he secured a contract to supply the grapes to a local grower. After realising that this hobby could be made into a business he decided to go full time. In 1994 he founded the company and named it Torbreck after a forrest in Scotland where he had worked as a lumberjack. Torbreck's flagship wine, RunRig is named after the Scottish Highland clans system to distribute land amongst its clansmen in a series of widely dispersed holdings or 'Runrig'. Great care is taken from the vineyard where the vines are over 100 years old to the winery, where the Shiraz cuvee spends 30 months in 60 percent new French Oak . The 3 percent estate grown Viognier is also fermented and aged for 6 months in barrel and then added to the blend just prior to bottling. This is a structured, muscular Shiraz blended with a little Viognier that is showing phenomenal density, dry vintage port-like concentration, and magnificent notes of smoke, blackberries, cassis, leather and coffee.
