Description: The cool climate of the Russian River Valley contributes to Simi's Reserve Chardonnay. The influence of the Pacific Ocean gives the Russian River Valley a long, extended and very moderate growing season. The location of Simi's Goldfields vineyard is perfectly situated within the heart of the Russian River Valley, close enough to the coast the get the benefits of the cool fog, and inland enough to ensure the vineyard will get the degree days that allow the Chardonnay to ripen to perfection every vintage. When Simi planted the Goldfields Vineyard in 1989, Simi opted for field selections rather than the heat-treated clones that make up most post-phylloxera Chardonnay vineyards. The Simi team took cuttings from some of the oldest and best Chardonnay vineyards in California choosing them for the diversity of flavors they would contribute to the wine. Golden straw colour and sandalwood and brown spice aromas, this wine has lemon and other citrus flavors that mingle with the essence of ripe red apple and well-integrated oak. Description: The Quinta de Santa Eufemia was founded in 1894 by Bernardo Rodrigues de Carvalho. Situated on the left bank of the river Douro, at an altitude of 300 meters, between Peso da Regua and Pinhao, in the heart of the oldest demarcated wine-producing region in the world. The 40 Hectare estate has the varieties Tinta Barroca, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, Touringa Nacional, Tinto Cao, and Tinta Amarela covering 80% of the vineyards, using a mechanised system. While the other 20% encompasses the white varieties of Malvazia Fina, Malvasia Rei, Moscatel Galego and Cerceal, are farmed according to the traditional method. Mud House SWAN Reserve Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough NZ
Description: John Joslin was a farmer in Essex and also had a business in Belgium. Together, with his wife Jennifer, they decided to sell up and cruise the world in their custom built yacht 'Dancing Wave'. They did this for six years before dropping anchor in New Zealand. After one visit to Marlborough the yacht was sold and 20 acres in the heart of the wine growing region was bought. Marlborough was chosen for its international reputation as a premium wine-growing region with one of the longest ripening periods in the world. The vineyard was named 'Le Grys' which was Jennifer's maiden name and planted varieties include Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Finally. a unique Mud block house was built in the vineyard and hence the name of the company was born and in 1996 the first vintage was released. This wine is made from a 50:50 blend of two batches of grapes. One came from a new block harvested for the first time near the mouth of the Awatere river, known as the Castles. The other from a Mud House run vineyard on Conders Bend, very close to the original Mud House Vineyard where it all started. The grapes were machine harvested under cool early morning conditions, pressed immediately, and the resulting juice was fermented very cool retaining all the fruit characters and aromatics, without introducing harsh skin characters that result from warm handling or skin contact. This is a pale straw coloured Sauvignon Blanc with intense passionfruit and currant aromas showing notes of mineral characters. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Le Roc CUVEE RESERVE Cotes du Frontonnais
Description: The Cotes du Frontonnais is a highly unique winemaking region located on the left bank of the Tarn River about twenty miles north of Toulouse. The area is generally flat, with occasional hills that create small slopes. The vineyard's subsoil is composed of ice age deposits, topped by alluvial soil and rouget, a material very rich in iron that lends a particular flavour to the wines. Roc Reserve is 50% Negrette , 25% Syrah and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. Vinification with pigeage helps provide extraction for the wine which is then aged for 12-15 months in oak barrels. Bottled without filtration this has a deep ruby colour, is extraordinarily aromatic with notes of vanilla, Seville orange and cinnamon, finishing with well-integrated tannin and excellent length.
