Botalcura EL DELIRIO Merlot Chile
Description: Vina Botalcura is the result of the passion of two men. Chilean partner, Juan Fernando Waidele, was seduced by the charm of the town of Botalcura and its environs, and this is where the idea to build a winery started. Juan Fernando then met enologist Philippe Debrus, who had a strong desire to return to a hands-on approach to winemaking, a style he learned in his native France when he was young. The winery is named after the town it is based in, Botalcura, near Talca, about 3 hours south of Santiago, in the coastal mountain range that forms the Maule Valley. Additionally, the word Botalcura means Large Stone in Mapundungun, the language of the Mapuche people of southern Chile. To complement the fruit grown on the company's own vineyards, grapes are sourced from the best areas of Chile, selecting those that fully express the intense, particular characteristics of the soils and climates from which they originate. Here great care is taken from hand picking the grapes only in the morning hours to keep fruit cool in the vine yard into the winery where 30% of the wine is aged six months in one and two year-old oak barrels before being bottled. A red ruby coloured wine with dark reflects and aomas of intense blackberry, plum, vanilla, nutmeg and oak. Gentle on the front palate, opening to full fruit flavours in the mouth-filling middle this wine is showing intense and well-integrated tannins that lend a solid structure, in harmony with the acidity. Medium-bodied and long on the finish this is a wine to savour. (12 x 75 cl)

Vina Montgras SOLEUS Merlot Organically Grown Grapes Central Valley DO
Description: Deep ruby red in colour with a youthful bright rim. The nose is aromatic and fruit driven, displaying ripe plum and red-berry fruit with an undertone of forest floor. The palate is medium bodied, finely structured and fruit driven, with blackberry and morello cherry flavours, wood spice and a hint of vanilla on the complex, lengthy finish. Soleus is a fully certified organic wine from Chile, it is produced by MontGras, who are very conscious of the sustainability and bio-diversity of all their vineyards. The hand selected grapes come from the Aurora Estate in Teno which is part of the Central Valley. Watered with pure Andean snow melt water, the vineyards benefit from the reliable Chilean sunshine and cool Pacific breezes. Winemaker Santiago Margozzini is in charge of selecting the fruit and crafting the Soleus range of wines, which are barrel aged, complex and unfortunately produced in limited quantities. (12 x 75 cl)

Vina Falernia Merlot Elqui Valley Chile
Description: A new winery founded in 1995 by Aldo Olivier Gramola in collaboration with Italian enologist Giorgio Flessati, Vina Falernia is located in the Elqui Valley between La Serena and Vicuna, 470 km to the north of Santiago and it is at present Chile's northernmost wine estate. With the majestic Andes as a backdrop, their peaks gleaming white all through the summer, the vineyards benefit from currents of cold air which descend from the high mountains at night. The soils in the vineyards are composed partly of rubble which has eroded from the Andes mountains and deposited by glaciers and wind, and partly of alluvial sand and silt deposited by the river. While stony, gravely soils are regarded as poor for most crops, their excellent drainage qualities make them perfect for wine growing. The winery is located in the Vicuna area and is equipped with state of the art technology that has produced a Merlot that is rich in colour and substance, supple with impressive harmony and spice deriving from maturation in barriques.
