Arnaldo Caprai Montefalco RESERVA Rosso Umbria
Description: Montefalco Rosso Riserva is the result of years of in-depth research studies carried out by the Arnauldo Caprai winery to find the best growing conditions and wine-making techniques for the production of this elegant Sangiovese based wine. This wine proves that a noble variety such as Sangiovese can yield great qualitative results in Umbria too. Soft, elegant, with silky tannins and a lingering aftertaste, it shows notes of wild berries and spices beautifully brought together in a harmonious whole. The vinification process includes a prolonged period of fermentation and maceration , in order to achieve the best and most complete extraction of phenolics. After racking, the wine remains in stainless steel tanks for about 4 months. It is then aged in Large Slavonian and French Oak barrels for over 20 months. The wine has a ruby red with bright purple reflections colour and a fully developed nose with notes of intense wild berries and spices, well-balanced with a delicate aroma of vanilla. Full and well structured, long and harmoniously balanced this wine tastes superb. (6 x 75 cl)

Col D'Orcia BANDITELLA Rosso di Montalcino DOC
Description: The Col D’Orcia estate is one of the oldest companies of Montalcino, being present at the First Exhibition of Italian wines held in Siena in 1933 with the name Fattoria di Sant’Angelo in Colle. The origin of the estate dates back to the first half of the XVIII century when the noble family Delle Ciaia of Siena established an estate in the area of Sant’Angelo in Colle which increased year by year. In the second half of the nineteenth century the ownership was passed to the Servadio family and subsequently to the Franceschi family. In 1973 Count Alberto Marone Cinzano took over the company, with the aim to contribute to the development and success of Montalcino and its Brunello on world markets. From 1977 the company has been under the direction of Edoardo Virano and from 1992 the Col D’Orcia estate is presided over by Count Francesco Marone Cinzano. The estate is located on the southern slope of the Montalcino territory, on hilly lands and extends over 540 hectares, from the Orcia river to the village of Sant’Angelo in Colle. The nature of the soil is undoubtedly favourable to grape growing, with fundamentally loose ground, poor in clay and rich in limestone and inert materials. Banditella is a recent vineyard where clones of Sangiovese, that have been selected over the past 10 years, provide the basis for one of the most excellent expressions of Brunello di Montalcino. After Manual harvest with rigorous selection of the bunches the grapes are immediately separated from the skin and the wine is transferred into new barriques where the malolactic fermentation takes place. The wine then refines in barriques for over one year. A dense ruby red coloured wine with youthful violet hints, it has an intense bouquet so typical of Sangiovese that is elegantly balanced by the noble spices deriving from the refinement in barrique. The fullness and elegance of the massive structure is given by a considerable quantity of noble tannins, while the aftertaste is caressed by the oak that enhances the varietal fruit. (6 x 75 cl)

La Spinetta SEZZANA Rosso Toscana IGT
Description: The Rivetti family story begins in the 1890s, when Giovanni Rivetti, grandfather of the three Rivetti brothers, Carlo, Bruno and Giorgio, left Piedmont for Argentina. Like many Italians of that time, he dreamed of returning rich and a powerful man, perhaps even one day able to make a great wine in his homeland. He never did, though his son, Giuseppe did. Pin married Lidia, bought vineyards and began to make wine. In 1977 the family took up residence at La Spinetta in Castagnole Lanze and still run the estate today. The Sezzana Estate was purchased in 2001 to produce wines of great flavour and character. Great care and dedication is taken to produce this 100% Sangiovese wine that has spent 12-14 months in new french Oak before being transfered to stainless steel vats for 3 months. Finally, without any filtration or clarifying, it is aged another 3-4 months in the bottle. This has produced a dark ruby red coloured wine with scents of ripe berries, vanilla and coffee while the influence of oak is evident. Full bodied with sweet tannins the impeccably balanced wood and acidity deliver through to the long fine finish. (12 x 75 cl)
