Bremerton RESERVE Cabernet Sauvignon Langhorne Creek South Australia
Description: The Bremerton story began in 1985 when Craig and Mignonne Willson purchased the property and established a long term restoration and development plan. The winery was established in 1988 and now has 110 acres planted at Langhorne Creek and is joint owner and manager of another 180 acres from which it selects the best fruit each year for its wines. Best quality practices ensure best quality grapes and the Bremerton vineyards predominantly grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot, with small plantings of Sauvignon Blanc, Verdelho, Chardonnay, Malbec and Petit Verdot. The winemaking team headed by family member and winemaker Rebecca Willson has taken the quality of the wines to new standards. Rebecca seeks the best possible fruit from the Bremerton Estate and other specialised Langhorne Creek vineyards to craft traditional, full bodied, full flavoured, mouth filling Langhorne Creek wines that show a consistency of style whilst encouraging the true varietal grape characteristics to be expressed. The winery has invested heavily in a premium French & Amercian oak program using 220 litre barriques to ensure subtle and complementary oak influences. The winery utilises tradtional open top fermenters, made from stainless steel and a purpose built barrel cellar for maturation. New laboratory and tasting facilities have also been added to the winery This Cabernet Sauvignon is intense, mouth-filling with earthy undertones and deep blackberry flavours complimenting a subtle integrated smoky oak palate. Description: This wine is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Shiraz that is almost opaque with a sweet nose of ripe dark fruits and hint of peppery spice. The palate is medium to full bodied with bags of rich fruit character, soft tannins and a long, concentrated finish. Ashbury Grove range is made by Kingston Estate, based at Kingston-On-Murray which is approximately 220 km from Adelaide in South Australia. Kingston Estate was founded by Sarantos and Constantina Moularadellis, who developed their 40 acre. Today Kingston Estate is the 10th largest wine producer in Australia and remains one of Australia's largest family-owned wineries. Sourced from vineyards in the Riverland area of South Australia, where Kingston Estate have been developing their vineyards since 1998. The Shiraz was harvested from selected vineyards in mid March at optimal fruit ripeness while the Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested in late March to early April to allow rich ripe fruit characters to develop. The parcels of grapes were kept separate throughout fermentation before being blended and oak matured. Yaldara STONEY VALE Shiraz/Cabernet Barossa Vallay South Australia
Description: The winery employs 100 people, crushes 9,000 tonnes of grapes and produces 700,000 cases per annum. Yaldara, along with many of the original Australian wineries, produced fine old fortified Port style wines and very big robust reds. When Herman's son Dieter Thumm became Managing Director in the late 1980's it was realised that Yaldara would have to update its wine making and produce a far more interesting modern style of wine. To do this the highly respected wine maker Jim Irvine was employed as a consultant to revamp wine making techniques. The Barossa is a hot, dry wine growing region. It is characterised by cold, wet winters and dry, dusty summers. Hot winds from central Australia can be devastating. Conditions favour the thick skinned Semillon and warmer climate red varieties, Shiraz, Mourvedre and Grenache. It also produces outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Chardonnays are fat and oily and Sauvignon Blanc, though not widely grown can show pungent asparagus characters which blend well with the more restrained Semillon. The impact of new wine making techniques has brought Yaldara to the forefront of Australian wine making. They have now received in excess of eighty awards with the two most notable successes being Top South Australian Chardonnay in the Sydney International Wine Makers Show and International Wine Challenge "Red Wine of the Year" for their Reserve Shiraz. Recent recognition of their "Farms" series Cabernets and Merlots suggests much more to come (12 x 75 cl)
