Yangarra means 'From the earth' in an aboriginal dialect, and it is this philosophy that Yangarra Estate, part of Jackson Wine Estates, try and reflect in their wines — minimum human intervention in viticulture and winemaking to produce special wines that reflect their terroir. 100% McLaren Vale estate grown fruit, once in the winery this wine spent 18 months in 33% new, 33% one year old, 33% two years old French oak barriques. Description: TASTING NOTES A concentrated rich and full wine with flavours of spices, creamy dark fruit and a smoky undertone. The 1999 Shiraz was the Maiden vintage for Uiterwyk Wine Estate, and is the only Shiraz in South Africa made in true Northern Rhône tradition where 5% Viognier is added to develop a softer more fragrant style. IN THE VINEYARD The DeWaal Shiraz is produced from a 25-year-old vineyard grown on gravel and loam soil. This single vineyard only produced 200 cases.
