Once in the winery this white wine spends 2 months in stainless steel at 15°C, with batonage and wine maker Adolfo Hurtado considered: 'A dual varietal white wine, this blend of SauvignonBlanc and Semillon is vibrant and has a fruity style. Bright and crisp yellow-green colour, this fresh wine brings together two very complementary varieties. Citrus fruit and peach cues from the Semillon are supplemented by delicate undertones of white flowers and the slight herbal zest from the Sauvignon. Description: Arlewood Estate was established in 1988 in the Willyabrup Valley of the Margaret River wine region in Western Australia. The Gosatti family in partnership planted a small vineyard near Cowaramup in 1995, and acquired Arlewood Estate in 1999. In October 2005, The Gosatti Family completed an outright purchase of Arlewood to pursue the vision that is starting to crystalise with the release of some wines worthy of their situation. The total area under vine is 15 hectares and the plantings include 17 year old Cabernet Sauvignon and Semillon vines; 11 year old SauvignonBlanc, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Franc; 10 year old Chardonnay, along with newer plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot. This wine is a blend of 60% SauvignonBlanc and 40% Semillon and all the fruit was sourced from Arlewood Estate vineyard; Willyabrup, Margaret River Appellation. Once in the winery the SauvignonBlanc was tank fermented, while the Semillon component matured in new French oak barriques for 2 months. Made by Mark Messenger to the Arlewood his aim was to produce a style which delivers all the bright fruit and cleansing freshness that Margaret River is known for, with the added dimension that a barrel fermented portion of the blend delivers. The palate is bright and clear while the lean body and mouthfeel reveal cleansing acidity. Flavours of grapefruit and lime combine with savoury spice through to the enjoyable finish. Description: The SauvignonBlanc / Semillon from Cullen is a blend of 82% SauvignonBlanc and 18% Semillon. It is a delicious wine that displays the aromatic lift characteristic of the vintage. Approximately two thirds of the SauvignonBlanc was fermented in new barrels to give weight and texture, while the other one third and all of Semillon were tank fermented. The oak remains very firmly in the background, with the fresh fruit flavours dominating on the nose and palate. As with all the Cullen wines, it has a balance and elegance that sets them apart from the crowd. This pursuit of balance starts in the vineyard, where Vanya has progressively moved to organic culture in the search for better fruit and continues in the winery, where a non-interventionist philosophy is adopted in order to maximise the retention of these outstanding fruit characters. This Italian family have six generations of winemaking experience, while the Casella family winery was founded in 1965. Today it is run by John Casella, an extremely talented and highly respected winemaker who aims to produce top qualitv wines from this region. John Casella was amongst the first to select premium vineyard sites used for the production of premium varieties and the vineyards now extend to 250 hectares.
