Description: As one of the Barossa's premium winemakers StHallett sources Shiraz grapes from a number of different vineyard site in both the Barossa and Eden Valleys. The common factor with all grapes destined for the Blackwell Shiraz and our flagship Old Black Shiraz is they come from vineyards aged from 70 up to 100 years. Mature, dry grown vineyards such as these produce tiny yields of highly concentrated fruit, and result in a winestyle that is quite unique to the Barossa. Typically the Blackwell Shiraz shows sweet blackcurrant and plum characters on the nose wit a dusting of vanillin oak. These flavours carry through onto the palate which has rich, complex flavours of dark chocolate, cherry and spice with a smooth generous finish. Description: Made from 100% Estate owned fruit from the McLaren Vale wine region of South Australia, our 'Hut Block' vineyard is planted on an open lace in free draining soils, unusual amongst the clay and loams of the district. This produces a wine of intense berry aroma and flavour. The 'Hut Block' is named after the old 'pickers' hut, which has sat on the property for over fifty years. The wine is a blend of Cabemet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc matured in selected French and American Oak casks for twelve months prior to bottling. Traditionally the wine is deeply coloured, with ripe berry flavours, a full rich, robustwine balanced with a supple mid palate and a fine tannin finish.
