The vineyards are located in the central Medoc, near St Laurent Medoc, not far from Chateau Camensac, Chateau Belgrave and Chateau La Tour Carnet to the north, and Chateau Lanessan to the east. Caronne Ste Gemme derives its name from Carona, a nearby spring, with Ste Gemme being a derivative of St James, a local parish. The 45 ha of vines sit on a gravel plateau typical of the Medoc, over an iron rich clay-sandstone base at the western end and a more sandy mix towards the Gironde. The encepagement is also fairly typical; there is a dominance of Cabernet Sauvignon, with a little less Merlot and just a few Petit Verdot vines with an average age of 25 years. This wine has a dense, macerated fruit nose while full of texture and fruit on the palate. A great Cabernet Sauvignon with plenty of tannin, dominating the palate, despite the presence of some Super-ripe fruit it is a complex, intense, pure, structured wine. (12 x 75 cl)

La Cave Du VinBlanc De Morgex et De La Salle RAYON Blanc Vallee D'Aosta DOC
Description: The region of Valle d'Aosta has an ancient history of winemaking, even though the steep mountain slopes and harsh, cold climate might suggest otherwise. Historically however, wine production from the region was confined to individual 'backyard vineyards' of usually no more than 2,500 square meters. In 1983, thanks in part to the efforts of the region's local government, these efforts were officially acknowledged and the Cooperative estate, Cave du VinBlanc de Morgex et de La Salle, was born. This cooperative took control of its newly built winery, well-equipped with all the technology needed to produce high-quality fine wines and began producing the region's traditional wine varieties. The local growers of the co-op are for the most part retired persons who tend their vines as they would a garden, following specific guidelines set up by the cooperative itself. Today the Cave du VinBlanc de Morgex et de La Salle produces over 140,000 bottles annually of 5 different traditional Valle D'Aosta wines. This unfailing commitment to the Valle D'Aosta wine-making has literally saved the region's history and culture from extinction, making these beautiful wines, and a part of Valle D'Aosta's culture. 100% Prie Blanc and fermented in Stainless Steel is a cloudy yellow coloured wine with greenish reflections. Showing Floral, banana, citrus aromas it has fresh acidity and a long finish. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £77.39
