Dry Creek Vineyards Fume Blanc Dry Creek Valley California
Description: Dry Creek Vineyard was the first new winery to be established in the Dry Creek Valley since the days of Prohibition, when David Stare arrived in 1972. Today, Dry Creek Vineyard wines are easy to recognise due to the spirited yacht paintings that appear on the label of each bottle. David Stare's pioneering vision launched a new era of premium wine production in the Dry Creek Valley. Inspired by his travels throughout the traditional wine regions of France and Germany, Dave's focus was ever on quality. To persue this focus, small batch winemaking has been adopted because individual-lot winemaking promotes increased knowledge about how to manage each vineyard while offering maximum blending options and enhanced quality control. Dry Creek Vineyard insists on crafting each lot of wine separately with each vineyard lot crushed, fermented, and barrel aged separately. Approximately 75-100 different wines are produced each vintage, where fining is the exception, not the rule. Dry Creek Vineyard's cornerstone wine continues to exemplify Sauvignon Blanc winemaking in its purest sense. Fermented 3 weeks 85% in stainless steel tanks and 15% barrel fermented it is then aged 3 months in French and American oak. This Flagship Fume Blanc is fragrantly scented with fresh mown grass and grapefruit notes. Clean and fresh on the palate, a blend of lemongrass, citrus and honeysuckle flavours is followed by light oak and a hint of cream and vanilla. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £150.31

Saint Clair DOCTORS CREEK Reserve PinotNoir NZ
Description: Saint Clair is owned by Neal and Judy Ibbotson, two of Marlborough's earliest vineyard pioneers, who planted their first vines in 1978. Grapes were originally supplied to local wine companies. However, a desire to extend the quality achieved in the vineyard through to the finished wine, led to the establishment of Saint Clair Estate Wines. The Saint Clair name originates from the main vineyard property, which was originally settled by the 'Sinclair' family. James Sinclair built one of the first homes in Blenheim and was closely associated with the development of the early town. With the passage of time the name reverted to the original, Saint Clair. The Saint Clair label, designed by Graphic Designer Tony Ibbotson of Sydney, depicts the golden glow of the hidden Marlborough valley with the halo silhouetted above. Fruit for this wine was sourced from several low cropping vineyards in the Omaka Valley, Brancott Valley and Doctor's Creek. The grapes were hand-picked at optimum ripeness and carefully transported to the winery for de-stemming and must chilling to small open top stainless steel fermenters. At dryness each batch was pressed to tank and then racked off gross lees to a mixture of new and used French oak. The was inoculated for malolactic fermentation and aged for eight months on lees before being blended, stabilized, lightly egg white fined and then prepared for bottling. A bright ruby red coloured wine it has a bouquet of black cherries, plums and currants with lifted floral notes well integrated with toasty oak characters and savoury mushroom. This is a delicious, medium-bodied PinotNoir with a palate dominated by cherry flavours with hints of currants and plums. This wine has well balanced acidity, supple tannins and flavours that linger. A combination of new and old French oak provides rich savoury notes on the palate with a full lingering finish. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £186.08
