Springfield Estate LIFE FROM STONE Sauvignon Blanc Robertson RSA
Description: Tasting Note Intense, stony, minerally Sauvignon with lime, gooseberry, freshly cut green pepper and passion fruit notes. Zippy, zesty and mouthwatering. A bit about Springfield Estate Brother and sister team Abrie and Jeanette Bruwer are the complete opposite of your typical university trained have-cultured-yeast-will-travel flying winemakers. Self-taught with a profound love of the arid, rocky, unforgiving Robertson terroir that they call home, the Bruwers make wines that have a distinct sense of place. These are wines hewn from the ground rather than made to a recipe in a lab and Springfield is now one of the first names to appear on any list of ‘Top SA Wineries’. If you ever get the chance to go and visit Jeanette and Abrie at Springfield, you'll understand why this single vineyard Sauvignon is called Life from Stone. The rocky, arid terroir looks just about the most inhospitable place a plant could choose to grow. Make no mistake, these vines really struggle for their art. Their efforts are well worth it though, as the hardship seems to push them to ever greater heights. Intense and minerally, this would beat many a top Sancerre in a pepsi challenge.
