After Victor Vasarely, Arman, Andre Masson, Vieira da Silva, Roy Lichtenstein, Hans Hartung, Toshimitsu Imai, Corneille et Matta, Zao Wou-Ki has agreed to create a new work of art for the Taittinger Collection Range. This champagne is composed of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir. The Chardonnay grapes are selected mostly from the grands crus of the Cote des Blancs, the Pinot Noir grapes are from the crus of the Montagne de Reims and Vallee de la Marne. Intensely aromatic with hints of orange rind, violets, rose petals, anise and vanilla. This wine was fermented in open top fermenters and aged for 10 months in French oak barrels. The barrels used in the ageing of the Avant-Garde Pinot Noir are specially selected from cooperages that complement the aroma and flavor profile of the wine. The Avant-Garde is a delicate wine intensely aromatic with notes of strawberries, cherries, clove, orange peel, rose petals, and black tea. Blended primarily from the Domaine Carneros Estate Pinot Noir vineyards, the fruit for this wine is grown by the Chateau as well as on our Pompadour Vineyard located near the town of Sonoma.
