A highly regarded 950-acre estate in the Salentino plain of southern Italy's Puglia region, Candido features 462 acres of vineyard and is owned and managed by Alessandro and Giacomo Candido, sons of the founder and consulting Enologist Severino Garofano also plays an instrumental role at the property. Affectionately known as the Prince of Southern Italian Winemaking, Garofano is Italy's top authority on the grape varieties of Italy's south and a champion of southern Italian winemaking. Candido's estate-grown and -bottled Salice Salentino DOC blends 95% Negroamaro and 5% Malvasia Nera grapes harvested from low-yielding 30-year-old vines.
