Domaine Ott Rouge Bandol France
Description: The grapes used in making this red wine come from vines no less than 15 years of age. The Mourvedre, a local variety gives the wine its round, robust quality, abd it is the dominant variety used in this wine, as required by the appellation. Additionally, Cinsault is used for its fresh, velvety elegance and Grenache rounds off the wine and give it body, strength and bouquet. Finally, there is a little Syrah to give verve to the wine as well as slight hints of liquorice. The result is a wine showing a spicy character with a truly generous blackcurrant and morello cherry bouquet. It is tannic, warm and well balanced. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £196.28

Peter Pliger Riesling Renano Kaiton Bressanone Alto-Adige
Description: Peter Pliger, proprietor and winemaker at this tiny property , is considered to be a pace-setter for the Valle Isarco region, which is located in the normally cooler northern portion of Sudtirol. His organically cultivated vines exhibit an aromatic profile and stony minerality that differ from those grown just north or south of his property and are expressive of a unique terroir. Located in the Brenner Pass which contains the Valle Isarco , a 'sweet spot' of 238 hectares of prime winegrowing land between the town of Castelrotto northeast of Bolzano and Novacella north of Bressanone. Now farmed by a passionate group of young winemakers, the pioneer who first drew attention to Valle Isarco's wines is Peter Pliger. Pliger and the rest of the area's growers employ similar winemaking methods including organic farming, stainless steel and acacia vats with no barrique, no malolactic fermentation to produce what Gambero Rosso deems wines of amazing minerality and complexity. This glorious Riesling is gold with greenish highlights. Somewhat muted floral and herbal scents on the nose but in the mouth one finds intense flavours of white peach, orange peel and apricot, sharply focused and delineated, showing noteworthy verve. A strong sense of minerality underlies the honeyed finish, which also conveys nuances of candied ginger and quince. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £124.31

Domaine Jean Pillot Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru
Description: Jean-Marc Pillot has recently taken over from his father, Jean, at the family owned domaine. While able to draw on the experience and advice of his father he has made changes to the estate, including a new cave, that have propelled the domaine up the league of premiere producers of wine in Burgundy. Equally capable of producing great white or red wine the style is always intensely fruity, graceful, and precise. With white wines dominating the 10 hectare domaine the vineyard holdings are spread throughout the village of Chassagne with subsidiary parcels in Puligny, Santenay, and Remigny . The vines in most parcels are between 25 and 50 years old. Traditional viticultural practices are used in the vineyards where, Cordon de Royat and Guyot Simple pruning and training systems are employed. The whites are fermented 12 to 18 months in barrel, never using no more than 25% new wood so as not to overwhelm the intensity of fruit and sense of terroir specific to each wine. Bâtonnage is practiced to enrich the whites but is not exaggerated while the wines are manipulated as little as possible and are bottled unfiltered to preserve their purity. Quantities of this wine are strictly limited with aromas of peach, smoke and minerals it is fat and full with great presence, but quite dry and sappy, with excellent balancing acidity. This is an intense wine and has terrific chewy texture and a very spicy finish. Highly aromatic nose that combines confectionery fruit notes of lemon cream, apricot and banana with hints of lees and sulfides. This is a wine that reflects its terrior, extremely rich and dense this is a Chardonnay that really fills the mouth with a velvety and dense middle but light on its feet, with sharply delineated grapefruit and pineapple flavours. Finishes with superb verve, grip and stony persistence. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £1281.25
