Bright and clean it is a deep cherry red colour with a tawny rim. The nose is powerful, spicy showing liquorice notes finishing with touches of new wood, and vanilla. On the palate it has a broad and harmonious taste while the tannins melt naturally at the front of the mouth and on both sides of the tongue this Reserva is smooth yet robust. (12 x 75 cl)

Vega Sicilia UNICO Reserva Especial Ribera del Duero Spain
Description: This wine has no vintage, as it blends harvests, and is representative of the more stable concept of Vega Sicilia. With this wine, the winery seeks to continue a very old Spanish custom and bring together the balance of different vintages. Traditionally in Spain, the few wineries that bottled their wines made two types of wine with each harvest: that of the current year, and another wine without a specific harvest, which was called -Reserva Especial-. It was a blend of wines from the best harvests, which came to be the most representative wine of the winery. The Reserva Especial has a dark cherry tone that is opaque and full of colour. It is elegant on the nose, with a fine spicy bouquet. Time and the bottle have given it its roundness, smoothness and strength, leaving its conclusive mark on the palate. Bodegas Piqueras Castillo de Almansa Reserva
Description: Traditional Spanish wine makers, Bodegas Piqueras, DO Almansa lay 100km inland from Valencia and Alicante, east of Albacete. The soil is basically calcareous with the climate extremely continental, cold winters and hot summers are ideal for the cultivation of the Tempranillo and Monastrol grapes. Bodegas Piqueras was founded in 1915 and winemaker Juan Pablo Bonete now limits production to ensure eminent wines of distinction. The 1996 Castillo de Almansa is possibly our best selling oak-aged red wine, and understandably so.
