A pioneer in the production of Port in the early part of the 18th century in 1983 a rather small quantity was made. The freshness and outstanding aromatic quality was probably the best since 1963, possibly excepting the 1977. This Vintage is beginning to show some of the wonderful characteristics of bottle matured wine. A really haunting scent. Wonderful orangey fruit. This has everything. The fruit, acidity and tannin balance is superb. (12 x 75 cl)

Adriano Ramos Pinto 1997 Vintage Port
Description: Color: Beautiful violet shades still opaque as the wine is in its first stages of maturation. Nose: Elegant floral notes with hints of rose and black cherry. Palate: Smooth, well-balanced attack. Robust tannins endow the wine with hints of ripe fruit, showing plenty of promise for good aging. Serving Suggestions: This wine is best served after standing upright for at least two hours and decanted. Best served with cheese at the end of a meal. The 1997 vintage is a wine of complete ripeness, good acidity, tannin and concentration. The growing season consisted of a sunny winter, adverse weather in spring, and favorable, sunny growing conditions in summer. While there were some weather difficulties, Ramos-Pinto fared well. The 1997 vintage will start to reach maturity in 10-15 years (12 x 75 cl)

Adriano Ramos Pinto LBV Port
Description: The LBV 1995 shows an intense red colour, almost opaque, with garnet hues. The aromas are complete and full of powerful ripe fruit with notes of black plum. The wine is full-bodied with oaky nuances, promising excellent bottle ageing. On the palate, it is fresh, velvety, spicy and lively. Hints of anise, black plum and raspberry are backed up by a soft tannic structure. This is a tasty wine with a nice long finish. Enjoy the wine's vivacity and fruitness now, or lay down to improve quality. A late-bottled vintage port is a single-vintage blend that has been aged four to six years in oak casks, unlike a vintage port which ages only two years in wood before bottling. As a result of this extended wood contact, LBV ports have mature, fruity flavours at a younger age, offering much of the character of a vintage port without the wait and at a lower price. (6 x 75 cl)

Calem QUINTA da FOZ Single Quinta 1984 Vintage Port
Description: Quinta is the Portuguese word for vineyard and thus, whenever a vintage port has the word quinta, one can be guaranteed that grapes come entirely from this place. Quinta da Foz is situated in the heart of Port Wine country with steep terraced slopes reaching all the way down to the Douro River. This special vintage has a deep, dark inky colour. Its rich bouquet is predominantly of forest fruits, notably ripe plums and prunes, with touches of cocoa and spices. On tasting it is mature, complex, full and rounded. Using only the best grapes of the 1986 harvest, this vintage port was aged for two years in fine oak vats before bottling. Ready to drink now, it will continue to mature for decades . As vintage port forms a natural deposit, stand the bottle upright for a couple of hours before careful decanting. This is a good vintage to have after a good dinner accompanied by a rich fruit tart or with mature cheeses (6 x 75 cl)

Adriano Ramos Pinto 2003 Vintage Port
Description: A classic young vintage, the 1991 has a deep, livley red color. It greets the nose with rich, powerful aromas, dominated by fresh fruitiness tinged with a candy sweetness and floral violet scents. In the mouth, the wine has a powerful attack. Flavors are round and subtle, with a vivacious personality. The 1991 vintage port promises to improve gracefully with age. Porto Vintage 1991 To describe a vintage means, first of all, to refer to the vegetative cycle and the conditions of the growing season. 1991 was a good year, neither too dry nor too humid. The vineyards matured without great effort, but fromt he last 15 days of July till mid-August, high temperatures caused some damage in maturation. However, the overall favorable weather contributed to the grapes' excellent aspect, and conditions were perfect at harvest time. The must was thin and aromatic, with an intense color that told us we were in the presence of an excellent wine. The same opinion was felt throughout the Duoro, as most port houses did declare a vintage 1991 Winemakers Notes: Appellation: Porto Origin: Exclusively from Ramos-Pinto quintas: 80% from Ervamoira , where the mature grapes provide excellent structure, and 20% from Bom Retiro , providing aroma and finesse.
