Domaine Fernand Lecheneaut Morey Saint Denis AC
Description: In the early 1960's, this 22 acre estate was created by Fernand Lecheneaut while he worked for a négociant in Beaune. He took advantage of opportunities to buy parcels of various vineyards, and finally quit the shipper trade when he had acquired enough. Based mainly in the Côte de Nuits, spread through the appellations of Nuit-St-Georges, Morey-St-Denis, Vosne Romanée and Chambolle Musigny, where it is planted with 90% Pinot Noir. In addition the Domaine have a small vineyard in the grand cru Clos de la Roche in Morey-St-Denis. The remaining 10% of grapes produced are evenly divided between Chardonnay and Aligote. Their annual production of 2,500 cases comes in 13 different bottlings and availability is strictly limited. Domaine Fernand Lecheneaut has been run since 1985 by brothers Vincent and Philippe Lecheneaut. The Estate in Nuits St Georges is considered one of the finest in Burgundy and tradition is the by-word for the wines made here. Once harvested the wine spends 18 months in barrique without any fining or filtration. The wines produced are superbly crafted, concentrated yet forward and elegant with well integrated oak. This Pinot Noir is a deep red-ruby colour with aromas of raspberry and coffee. Chateau Broustet 2eme Cru Classe Barsac
Description: The Estate is owned by Didier Laulan, whose family have produced wine in Barsac for generations. It is located outside the village of Barsac in the so-called 'Haut Barsac' area. Chateau Broustet covers some 16 hectares in this part of the Garonne valley, better known as Sauternais. The location of Barsac-Sauternes near the Garonne, gives rise to special conditions in the autumn, when the morning mists are followed by hot days, thus favouring the development of noble rot. This action of 'botrytis cinerea' produces water evaporation, which leads to a natural sugar concentration. The soil is siliceous gravel on clay and limestone subsoil, which has a high iron content. This gives Barsac wines their special character. The average age of the vine is 40 years old, planted in proportions: 80% Semillon, 10% Sauvignon, 10% Muscadelle. Extreme care is given to the picking, and it can take 5 or 6 rounds to pick all the grapes. After the vinification, which takes place in small stainless steel vats, and up until the bottling, the wine ages for two years in barrels, renewed by a third each year. A very sweet full bodied white wine, excellent as an aperitif and also accompanies desserts to round off the meal. The severe pruning of the vines combined with the concentrating action of noble rot gives a low average yield of 12 hectolitres per hectare, that is to say 2000 cases of 12 bottles. (24 x 37.5 cl)

Chateau Haut-Ferrand Pomerol
Description: Lying on the southern slopes of the Pomerol plateau the Chateau Ferran vineyard is one of the oldest in the region. With an iron rich subsoil, , containing a large amount of iron-pan which gives it that highly characteristic taste of a Pomerol wine. Before the war, this estate in a single piece was enlarged and reconstituted with a judicious grape mix consisting of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Intelligently vinified, the wine of Ferrand- which is sometiems partly sold with the label Chateau Vieux Ferrand- is soft and very delicate, similar to certain Medoc wines. Its fine demeanor and its great finesse makes it very justifiably appreciated. The gravel part near the church in Pomerol and its old vines, planted mainly to Merlot are vinified separately and produce a better class wine sold with the brand name chateau Haut Ferrand. Knappstein Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Clare Valley South Australia
Description: Tasting Note A classic Clare Cabernet with concentrated full-bodied mulberry and blackberry fruit, deep chocolaty vanilla oak and smooth, juicy tannins all lifted by some tell-tale Aussie eucalyptus character. 14.5% Knappstein have been making this flagship Single Vineyard wine since 1974, and it is nearing its 30th birthday with a cracking 2003 vintage. Planted back in 1979, the Enterprise Vineyard is located on a warm site in the Clare Valley over iron-rich limestone soils and every year produces fabulous, concentrated grapes with bags of flavour. Livon VILLA CHIOPRIS Sauvignon Blanc Friuli Grave DOC
Description: In 1964 Dorino Livon purchased the first piece of property in the hills of Collio and step by step added new parcels to his portfolio. In this way, the Azienda Agricola Livon slowly but steadily continues to grow and continuing this trend Villa Chiopris was purchased in 1992. This seventy-hectare property lies between the towns of Chiopris and Viscone in a large plain, rich in iron and alluvial soils, that extends from the edge of the Veneto region in the west and the Colli Orientali del Friuli region in the east with the Moreniche hills to the North. The grapes are harvested by hand and collected into boxes from vineyards located in Chiopris Viscone and San Giovanni al Natisone. On arrival at the winery the grapes are gently macerated for 8 hours and decanted. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks at controlled temperatures . Once fermentation is complete, the wine is left to mature in tank for approximately 4 months. The wine then undergoes the final blending and bottled where the wine is stored for 2 months before release. The Villa Chiopris is 100% Sauvignon Blanc and has a lovely chalky nose with hints of pear drop as well as a pleasant finish. (6 x 75 cl)
