Description: The colour is wonderful, typical of the Barbera varietal. The palate is surprisingly supple, round and soft, with good acidity. This wine has great ageing potential The name Fides means trust in Latin, and Pio Cesare Family has always had great trust in Barbera grown in the Barolo region. This Trust was reinforced in 1991 when we bought a new small estate in Serralunga d'Alba, close to our Ornato vineyard. This new estate has a perfect location, facing south and it could have been a great Barolo vineyard. Instead, we removed the Nebbiolo vines and replaced with Barbera, being convinced of the quality that we could obtain from such a great property. The perfect exposure, the microclimate of the area, and the peculiar selection of the vines, allows us to produce grapes extremely rich and concentrated. Temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, with skin contact for about 10 days to extract the maximum of colour and fruit. The ageingfor twenty months in small barrels of French oak and in casks of 25 hectolitres is contributing to the sweetness and longevity of the tannins. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £389.50
