W I N E S T Y L E The fruit for the Yalumba Handpicked Tri-centenary Grenache is sourced from a single vineyard in the Barossa Valley, affectionately known as 'The Nursery' block. This vineyard has old bush vines that were planted in 1889, making it some of the oldest Grenache vines in Australia. The grapes from these low-yielding vines are intense and powerful, providing a wonderful resource to make a rare and brilliant Grenache such as this. The2000 Yalumba Handpicked Tri-centenary Vines Grenache is deep cherry red in colour with purple hues and has a complex and earthy nose with black cherries, liquorice, spice and white pepper. YalumbaHANDPICKED Shiraz Viognier Barossa Valley South Australia
Description: The concept of blending Shiraz and Viognier is not new. It is derived from the great French wine region of Northern Rhone, in particular, the Cote Rotie area. Cote Rotie has often been described as one of France's finest and most perfumed red wines. W I N E S T Y L E YalumbaHandPicked Shiraz + Viognier 1999 is deep cherry red in colour with purple hues. Lifted floral aromatics surround ripe fleshy plums, chocolate and dried fruits. On the palate, fine tannins support the intense flavours of ripe cherries, liquorice, anise and violets. This wine can be enjoyed now, but will benefit from medium term cellaring. The addition of Viognier to Shiraz intensifies the colour, adds an extra dimension and a wonderful fragrance to the bouquet, and brings softness to the rich and powerful Barossa Shiraz. This rare blend from Yalumba of 87% Shiraz and 13% Viognier is 100% Barossa, with the majority of the fruit sourced from the Eden Valley. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £93.74

Yalumba THE OCTAVIOUS Old Vine Shiraz Barossa Valley
Description: Yalumba 'The Octavius' has established a reputation as one of Australia's icon Shiraz wines, an amazing feat considering the first release was the 1990 vintage. Yalumba's The Octavius was once again sourced from dry grown old bushvines that produced low crops of intensely rich and powerful Shiraz fruit. The resulting wine is dense red in colour with a complex nose of spice, pepper, fruitcake, coffee bean, violet and vanillin toasty oak. The palate is truly intense with concentrated layers of plum, licorice and black olives balanced by fine-grained tannins. This wine will see through to the long term and has at least 10 years of cellaring potential. In addition to being sourced from a number of very old vineyards in the Barossa, The Octavius is matured in American oak 'octaves' of only 90 litres capacity. It is the only red wine in the world that is matured in such small barrels. The secret of the wine not becoming overpowered by the oak, is that the oak used is seasoned at Yalumba for eight years before the octaves are crafted. Yalumba is one of a select few wineries in the world who boast their own coopers practising the ancient craft of barrel making. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £205.01
