Covinca TORRELONGARES RESERVA Carinena DO Aragon
Description: Covinca was founded in 1987 after the merger of 2 cooperatives; that of the Almonacid de la Sierra and the Longares . Today, Covinca is managed by a young but experienced team representing over 700 members who together possess 3,000 hectares of vineyards and are the third largest bodega in Carinena. Carinena is one of the oldest Denominaciones de Origen in Spain and the oldest in Aragon. Viticulture began in the time of the Romans where indigenous grape varieties of Garnacha and Carinena were then taken to other parts of the Roman Empire . The Carinena Denominacion de Origen is situated 56 km south east of Zaragoza, Aragon, and is situated in the Iberica mountain range between the Campo de Carinena valley and the Ebro river. The Denominacion covers 50,000 hectares and has a long viticultural tradition and rich cultural heritage dating from the mudejar period. Generally the climate is arid in Carinena, with an annual rainfall of 350mm. The summers are dry and sunny, the winters are cold and the area often feels the effects of the 'el Cierzo' wind, which contributes to the dryness of the climate. This wine is made from the grape varieties Garnacha (6 x 75 cl)
