Description:
The names of the A Crux and B Crux wines are based on the stars of the Southern Cross. This constellation is only visible in the Austral Hemisphere. The characterisation of the ostrich on the label symbolises the joining of the earth and the sky. The Argentinean Mocovi Indians captured this through paintings in the caves they inhabited and through different legends that were passed from generation to generation. After selecting the barrels individually, Bodega y Viñedos O. Fournier will offer its best wine under the A Crux label. This wine will have spent approximately 18 months in new oak barrels and 12 months in bottles. The second wine,B Crux, will age in oak barrels, 50 per cent new and 50 per cent second year, for 12 months and in bottles for a minimum of six months. (12 x 75 cl)

Description: At the turn of the millenium the Spanish family Ortega Gil-Fournier founded a small 'boutique' winery at the foot of the Andes, in La Consulta, in the Argentinean province of Mendoza. Bodega y Vinedos O Fournier aims to build a winery equipped with the latest technology. It will have a capacity of 600,000 litres in stainless steel, oak and cement vats, ranging from 6,500 to 25,000 litres in capacity. The new winery has been designed to work with gravity to minimise the use of pumps. The underground cellar will be able to hold up to 2,800 oak barrels at a constant temperature and humidity. In light of the company's commitment to continously improve its wines, it has plans for developing an innovative laboratory with microvinification capabilities. A small hotel and restaurant will also be built near the winery to accomodate visitors. The grapes are picked manually, by the company's own workers, and placed in 18-kg. boxes, allowing the Bodega to control the quality of the grapes right from the vineyard. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £124.92

Goyenechea QUINTA GENERATION Malbec Argentina
Description: The Malbec is considered as a variety especially well suited to Argentina and the grape used in Goyenechea's wine, comes from different established vine growers close to the Atuel River, in the state of San Rafael. The vineyard is comprised of vertical-trained wines with double Guyot pruning. The fermentation, although classic, was carried out by ''delestage'' system, macerating the cold unfermented grape juice with the solid parts of the grape for six days at high temperature. The malolactic fermentation took place afterwards. The finished wine was matured in tanks, for eighteen months, without any wood ageing. Malbec. This Argentine Malbec is a plum red colour, with a delicate nose of dry fruits, walnut, lightly spiced and well combined smoked wood.
