Les Vingt Lieux Dits, as the name implies, is a cuvee produced from 20 different vineyard sites. Neither fined nor filtered this is dark chunky Bourgueil with all the chunks left in. Aged in futs de chene after a three week maceration this Cabernet Franc exhibits terroir from the gravelly-sandy soils. A balanced and fruity example of this under-rated appellation with plenty of tannin, but not at all aggressive. Morello cherries and blackcurrants, liquorice and green peppers and a touch of undergrowth. Lovely acidity keeps the wine fresh and alive on the palate and enhances those savoury notes. (12 x 75 cl)

Domaine de BelAir Pouilly Fume Pouilly sur Loire
Description: This Pouilly Fumé has a classically gooseberryish character on the nose and is full flavoured and rich on the palate. It is balanced by plenty of concentrated leafy fruit and a lovely fresh acidity that lingers long finish. The Montes family at Domaine de BelAir are excellent viticulteurs. They have 14 hectares of vineyard and in the past sold most of their production in bulk. Now that their winemaker daughter Katia has arrived on the scene the estate is producing excellent and serious wines. The cellar is small but modern, and the winemaking modern, intelligent and non-interventionist. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £138.87

Domaine de la Vougeraie BELAIR Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru
Description: Over 100 years ago one would hear talk of the Chateau BelAir, standing dominant over the Grand Crus. The name BelAir signifies an area where the air was purer than elsewhere. However, for the first 680 years of this vineyard's history, it was tended by the monks of Citeaux, who planted the Clos de Vougeot and the majority of the neighbouring plots at the start of the 12th century. The Clos du Prieure, like the rest, was sold off at the end of the 18th century under the French Revolution. Located in the climate known as Le Village, it is separated from the neighbouring vines by a small track to the west and a stream to the East, the Vouge, which gave its name to the village and to this Domaine. This was the first Domaine de la Vougeraie vineyard back in 1966. Its name derives from Les Brosselles, which meant a patch of scrubland. This climate is ideally located on the wildest, most unpretentious part of the village. The vines are on a steep east-south-east slope, with just the right degree of calcareous soil, a dream plot. At 350m and 15km south of Dijon, this parcel located in Gevrey-Chambertin, is right at the heart of the Cote de Nuits. It nestles between two prestigious cousins
