Falesco MARCILIANO Umbria IGT
Description: The Falesco Winery was only established in 1979 in Montefiascone on territory which had previously supplied Roman aristocracy and Popes with wine. Here, painstaking research went into identifying the best microclimates and soil composition before the vines were planted. The winery belongs to two brothers, Riccardo and Renzo Cotarello, and is located in Montefiascone, on the shores of the Lake of Bolsena. However, a large part of the vineyards lies in the region of Umbria and this is why some consider Falesco among the leading wineries of Latium, others of Umbria. The first wine produced in a new state-of-the-art vineyard was the Est! Est! Est!, closely followed by the iconic Montiano, a brilliant Merlot. The recent acquisition of the Marciliano estate in Umbria has allowed for further experimentation under the skilled stewardship of Riccardo, one of the Italy's most renowned winemakers. Made from 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc this wine is aged 16 months in barrel followed by an additional 12 months in bottle before release. A deep red coloured wine with aromas of dark forrest fruits that lead onto the palate. This blend is well balanced with good tanninic structure and lingering finish. (6 x 75 cl)
