ChateauBel-Air Lussac Saint Emilion
Description: Substantial and rich on the nose. Fullish-bodied with heaps of fruit on the palate. Very good grip. This is not a bit too firm. Lots of depth. Complex and balanced. In the heart of appellation Lussac-Saint Emilion, lies ChateauBel-Air which comprises of 30 unbroken hectares, including 21 hectares of vines. In 1978, Jean-Noel Roi took over the estate which has been in his family for over a century. The vineyard stands on a wide plateau of clay with areas of silica gravel, with a subsoil of clay and iron pan. The wine is 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc & 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines are on average 25 years old, a great age for producing well balanced wines. In maturing the wines the most traditional methods are used: 150 oak stave barrels, one third of which are renewed every year. A further guarantee of quality is that bottling takes place at the chateau 18-20 months after harvesting. By that time the wine has a fine, deep colour and is tannic without being too aggressive. The fruit makes it a pleasant drink in it's early years, but reaches full maturity at five to ten years old, sometimes more. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £147.15

Domaine de la Vougeraie BELAIR Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru
Description: Over 100 years ago one would hear talk of the ChateauBelAir, standing dominant over the Grand Crus. The name BelAir signifies an area where the air was purer than elsewhere. However, for the first 680 years of this vineyard's history, it was tended by the monks of Citeaux, who planted the Clos de Vougeot and the majority of the neighbouring plots at the start of the 12th century. The Clos du Prieure, like the rest, was sold off at the end of the 18th century under the French Revolution. Located in the climate known as Le Village, it is separated from the neighbouring vines by a small track to the west and a stream to the East, the Vouge, which gave its name to the village and to this Domaine. This was the first Domaine de la Vougeraie vineyard back in 1966. Its name derives from Les Brosselles, which meant a patch of scrubland. This climate is ideally located on the wildest, most unpretentious part of the village. The vines are on a steep east-south-east slope, with just the right degree of calcareous soil, a dream plot. At 350m and 15km south of Dijon, this parcel located in Gevrey-Chambertin, is right at the heart of the Cote de Nuits. It nestles between two prestigious cousins
