ChateauCissac Cru Bourgeois Haut Medoc
Description: The colour is marked by a deep purple red. The bouquet comes to the force once the wine has had time to breathe a little. A little elderberry, blackcurrants and other soft fruits are complemented by aromas of toast and a touch of tobacco to give a complex bouquet. With a little more air aromas of mild spices and some mineral notes develop. On the palate the wine is elegant and has a long, lingering finish. The mineral and fruity character of the wine balances the powerful, ripe tannins. This is definitely a Cru Bourgeois with potential and a long future ahead and is only just starting to open out. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £254.95

Chateau du Breuil Cru Bourgeois Haut-Medoc
Description: The baronial estate of du Breuil dates back to the 6th century which means that it is one of the oldest properties in the Medoc. The ruins of the old fortress are still impressive and there are many curious legends connected with it, not least being those about the Dame Douce, dating back to the 10th century. The vineyards adjoin those of Château Cissac. They slope in the direction of the south-south-east, towards a stream with its precious 'micro-climat' which, having watered the valley over-looked on one side by Château Lafite and on the other by Chateau Cos d'Estournel, flows into the Gironde below Pauillac. The soil is of medium-sized gravel of good depth. Size of the vineyard : 25 hectare Average annual production : 60 000 bottles Soil : gravel on chalk Grape varieties : 34% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 11% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec Average age of vines : 20 years Average production per hectare : 45 hectos Grape-picking : partly by hand WINE-MAKING type of vats : concrete lined with epoxy resin Fermentation temperature : 28/30 degrees Celsius Temperature control : cooling coil Duration of fermentation : 3 weeks approximately Vin de presse : maximum 5% incorporated according to the vintage Ageing : in oak casks during 16 months (12 x 75 cl) Price: £187.80
