Chateau LaCardonne Cru Bourgeois Medoc
Description: Les Domaines CGR is a venture between Chateau de laCardonne, Chateau Griviere and Chateau Ramafort who provide the initials for this company. Purchased by Les Domaines CGR in 1990 the Chateau is built on the highest plateau in the Medoc region. The vineyards are on sandy gravely soil, planted with vines as early as the 17th century and slopes gently down to the River. The vineyard extends to the communes from Blaignan, Odonnac and Prignac and this wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Great care is taken in the vineyard and this is continued in the winery where fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks before ageing 12 months in oak casks at the underground cellars. Chateau LaCardonne presents a fine carmine robe with hints of purple. The bouquet is intense showing dark forrest fruit with pepper and nutmeg. The attack is generous and mellow, developing a harmonious structure with strong, woody tannins and cooked fruits flavours leading to a wonderfully smokey finish. Available in half bottles.
