Description:
Carmenere has expressed great affinity to the Chilean terroir. It adapted so well to the soils and sunny climate that was often called the ''Chilean Merlot''. Our Arboleda Carmenere captures this grape variety's finest attributes with its intense colour and deep, spicy fruit character. Its aroma is highly complex, with unique notes of sweet spices, fig jam and tobacco intermingling with vibrant layers of rich, ripe berries. On the palate the wine has a full, round mouth feel, with rich and complex flavours and round, soft tannins, culminating in a long, lingering finish.The Arboleda range is made to complement food. This wine is perfect with grilled meat. The hand-harvested Carmenere grapes are quickly transported to the winery and carefully emptied into belt conveyors to avoid damaging the grapes. After destemming and lightly crushing the fruit, we gave the must a cold maceration of two to three days for gentle extraction of colour and flavour. We then began fermentation at 28ºC with selected yeasts, pumping the wine over the cap of skins twice a day to extract flavours. To develop varietal complexity and naturally soften tannins, we gave the wine 40 days of extended maceration. This wine aged in French and American oak barrels for eleven months to weave spicy oak nuances through the rich fruit flavours. (6 x 75 cl)

Vina Carmen Carmenere Rapel Valley Chile Description: Winemaker Comments: A nice deep ruby colour, starts with intense aromas of ripe red fruits, rhubarb, chocolate and pepper. Soft and velvety tannins in the mouth; jammy ripe red fruits, a hint of mint and spicy flavours. A nice balance, rich and lingering finish. Harvest and Production: The grapes were hand harvested from Rapel Valley known for its alluvial soils and summer high temperature days and fresh nights, ideal for the Carmenère. The bunches were crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks at 28ºC with a total maceration period of 15 days. Malolactic fermentation occurred naturally in stainless steel tanks. After this the wine was blended. 20% of the wine was aged in French and American barrels for a period of 6 months. Then, the wine blended and bottled. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £93.17
Vina Segu FAMILY RESERVE Carmenere Maule Valley Chile Description: Color: Stands out for its intense dark red color, with violet hues. Nose: Complex offering toast, earthiness, chocolate and vanilla at the same time, intertwined with exquisite mature red fruit and mild bouquet of spices, intense, elegant, and generous. Mouth: Delicious, well balanced and highly concentrated, tones of vanilla reappear with mature red fruit, earthiness, spices, and a pleasant finish with touches of chocolate. VINEYARDS Planted 5 years ago, the vines are managed in verticle shoot positioning trellis with cane pruning. Variety 85% Carmenere, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Production 37.5 Hl / hectare. Soil Shallow soil , poor in organic matter and with a slight predominance of clay, with limited irrigation. Type of Harvest Hand Harvested. VINIFICATION Type of crushing Grapes de-stemmed and lightly crushed. Method Direct seeding of yeast selected specifically for Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon. Fermentation Between 25 ºC to 28 ºC., 11 days, in stainless steel tanks. Batonages 4 per day, with 30 minutes length each.
