C.V.N.E., or to give it its full name Compania Vinicola del Norte de Espana was established on the 24th of March 1879 in Haro, Rioja. Throughout this period Cune has had a clear philosophy based on the constant quest for quality, respecting tradition but being willing to innovate. Carefully hand harvested, destalked, and short macerated, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at between 26 and 28oC to retain varietal aromas. Following alcoholic fermentation the wine was transferred to american oak casks where it remained for at least 12 months, with regular rackings to develop its finesse, before bottling and release. This Crianza is a blend of 80% Tempranillo and the balance Garnacha Tinta as well as Mazuelo. This has produced a Mid garnet/ruby coloured wine with quite a deep, full, complex nose. Showing Plum, damson, briar, coffee tones and good toasty vanilla flavours it has a full, rounded deep palate, long and satisfying. Finally, the rich, fruity length has a nice finishing bite of acidity and oak. (12 x 75 cl)
