Ca'del Bosco Chardonnay Terre di Franciacorta Lombardy DOC
Description: Located in Erbusco, in the province of Lombardy, Ca'del Bosco is widely recognized as one of Italy's greatest wine estates. In 1968, Ca'del Bosco was founded on two hundred and thirty acres, and planted with chardonnay, pinot blanc and pinot noir, the traditional varietals of Franciacorta. After years of significant investment, technological improvements and the usual experience brought about by trial and error, Ca'del Bosco has won a reputation as one of the world's most prominent producers of not only fine sparkling wines, but also still wines. In 1998, Gambero Rosso, the leading authority on Italian wines, began referring to the estate as one of the few Stars in Italy, having won so many coveted Three Glasses awards. In 2002, the winery was named Winery of the Year byt the same publication. Try to imagine a wine which has the sharpness and depth of aroma of a white wine but the structure of a red wine. Frist made in 1983, in order to challenge the other international wines obtained from the chardonnay grape, it is now considered a precise reference for this varietal. This is the Ca' del Bosco Chardonnay, a deep golden yellow color with a complex fragrance of ripe fruit, vanilla and toast. In the mouth, it has a rich structure, finesse and great smoothness. (6 x 75 cl)

A classic Bourdeaux mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, which has been matured in small oak casks, 100% new, small oak barrels for 15 months followed by bottle ageing for 15 months. In 2002, the winery was named Winery of the Year byt the same publication. This 100% Pinot Nero is the bane and delight of some of the greatest winegrowers in the world. It is a difficult vine. It is a site specific grape, so it is only successful in a few areas of the world and, even then, not every year. Ca' del Bosco took up the challenge in 1983. In many blind tastings, carried out by great international experts, it has outclassed the big names from Burgundy. Pinero is elegance personified. The richness is striking and the range of varietal aromas and the citrus and jam notes highlight the sensations coming from the aging in barriques. This Pinot Noir is very particular, able to show strength and finesse. It shows originality, with well-combined richness, finesse and smoothness, matched with rare elegance. Extremely smooth to the taste, it leaves a lingering ripe fruit impression. (6 x 75 cl)

Investigations were undertook and it was established that what in the North of Italy was called Cabernet Franc and in Chile Merlot was, in fact, Carmènere. This is reflected in the colorful graphic that adorns the Carmenero label, that of a wolf shedding its outer appearance (6 x 75 cl)
