Full, soft and persistent there is great harmony between acidity and tannins. The label of the Petra Val di Cornia wine illustrates the sky intersected by twelve lines, which represent the months of the year, and scattered with eight spheres, representing the lunar phases, and seven concentric rings for the days of the week. It is an image that sums up the relationship between the vineyard and the celestial bodies that influence its production.

Petra Toscano IGT
Description: Petra is located in the hills of Maremma in Tuscany and the 300 acre estate is controlled by the father and daughter team of Vittorio and Francesca Moretti. Ths is a garnet red coloured wine with deep nuances, concentrated and very clear. The very intense, multifaceted aromas are alcoholic but, at the same time, decidedly elegant and persistent. Red fruits and preserves are noticeable as an explosion of cherries and morellos abound while hints of minerals and vegetal aromas are also evident as nuances of vanilla and cocoa complete the picture and give fullness to the bouquet. Full-bodied this blend Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon is intense, enveloping and well-balanced. It gives a sense of fullness touching all areas of the tongue while the tannins are round, sweet and not exceptionally aggressive, well merged with the acid contents, savouriness and alcohol. The lable of the Petra Igt Toscana wine reproduces three circles in vertical progression signifying the earth-man-sky triad: a symbolic image that oriental tradition places at the centre of its message. The circles, formed with words, intersect each other and the intersection represents the relationship connecting man, trees and, therefore, vines, to the sky and earth. The method of production is meticulously aimed at defending territorial traits: local yeasts are utilised in fermentation and winemaking is carried out in wooden tubs at a controlled temperature. Refinement takes place in French oak barriques subject to medium-light toasting, 50% new and 50% second batch. Finally, the ageing period is 18 months in wood and as many months in bottles.
Petra ZINGARI Toscano IGT
Description: Petra is located in the hills of Maremma in Tuscany and the 300 acre estate is controlled by the father and daughter team of Vittorio and Francesca Moretti. A Pleasant, fresh wine, ready to drink, it is the result of an experimental approach to the vineyard and to winemaking. The grapes used for Zingari wine come from vines at the foot of hills, where the soil is mainly clayey and sandy. The grapes, which are hand-picked in the second half of August, are put through a short maceration of 7-10 days maximum. Fermentation and ageing take place in stainless steel tanks, and this is also where the complete malolactic fermentation takes place. Experimental vinification techniques have been used, such as using a French-designed experimental micro-oxygenation system. A ruby red coloured blend of Merlot, Sangiovese, Syrah and petit Verdot. This wine immediately opens up with floral and fruity notes on the nose that blend together over a pleasant vegetal background. A fragrant and clean taste of cherry, marasca and notes of dog rose are evident in this well balanced wine with an ebjoyable finish. The Zingari label comes from a pictorial interpretation of the spiral theme; its geometric structure, common in the plant kingdom, recalls the evolution of a force. It represents the repeated rhythms of life, the cyclic nature of evolution, a symbol of the earth's fecundity and fertility.
