Spy Valley Estate Marlborough Pinot Noir NZ
Description: Tasting Note A lively mixture of black currants, cherries and spice on the nose. Juicy, ripe tannins and fresh acidity frame the fruit on the palate with the oak adding some richer, seductive chocolate notes in the finish. 13.5% Spy Valley Pinot Noir is unquestionably one of the best pound for pound wines in New Zealand. Whilst many wineries have jumped on the Pinot Noir bandwagon by pricing their wines in line with Premier Cru Burgundies, Spy Valley have just concentrated on making amazing wine at a realistic price. A bit about Spy Valley Named after the satellite listening post located over the road from the winery, Spy Valley is in the Waihopai Valley in Marlborough. Happily for us they appear more interested in fine wine than exploding cigars, and recent vintages have seen the winery’s trophy cabinet filled to bursting. Like most Marlborough wineries, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc are Spy Valley specialties but winemaker Ant Mackenzie and his team also make a great range of aromatic whites including Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris. Their quality was recognised in March 2007 when the winery became the first ever producer to win four trophies in the same year at the Sydney Wine Show. (6 x 75 cl)
Price: £72.10
