Price per case: £145.54
Bottles per case: 12 x 75 cl
Style: Zesty/Aromatic Dry Whites
Description: This unoaked Hunter Valley Semillon exhibits typical grassy, herbaceous nose, soft palate and fresh acid finish. Can be enjoyed now – cellaring potential 2-5 years. The ‘early harvest’ grapes are picked before full maturity to retain natural acidity and to capture the grassy herbaceous bouquet exhibited by this variety. This also helps keep the wine light, producing a delicate and refreshing dry white wine; ideal for summer drinking. Briar Ridge Winery is located at the Southern tip of the Hunter Valley wine region in New South Wales, that’s only about two and a half hours north of Sydney. The winery has a beautiful aspect with the vines covering about 70 acres around the winery at Mount View. Winemaker Steve Dodd has 20 years of Hunter winemaking experience and this is expressed in the range of wines of intensive fruit flavour but refreshing lightness. The Semillon grape grown in the Hunter Valley produces a globally distinct wine and Briar Ridge has a great example that we are able to offer you, along with another white of fruity originality the crop-thinned verdelho. Briar Ridge is all about hand crafted quality wines; they clip nearly a third of the fruit bunches off the vines to ensure the rest develop the intense fruit flavours they are looking for. Very enjoyable drinking now, or cellar for up to ten years.Clare Valley Shiraz is a regional speciality. Early in the 1980's our shiraz vines were grafted over to other more commercially viable varieties. The wheel has turned full circle and we have 'ungrafted' the chardonnay. The vines have reverted to original root stock, and we're in the exciting position of soon to have thirty-year old shiraz vines which in future vintages will be used for our Knappstein Shiraz. Torbreck THE FACTOR Shiraz Barossa Valley
Description: This wine is composed of 100% Shiraz and was first produced from the 1998 vintage. In the early 1980s valuable Australian Shiraz vineyards were pulled out because of lack of market interest. The movement to cool climate viticulture and wine made the Barossa, of all places, look rather irrelevant. However this trend reversed dramatically with the internationalization of the Australian wine market and renewed enthusiasm of local buyers. This is our tribute to those surviving vines and is made in the traditional Barossa manner , rich and rewarding upon release and beautifully ethereal with age. Varietal : 100 percent Shiraz Regions : Marananga, Koonunga Hill, Moppa, Gomersal (6 x 75 cl)

Redbank THE ANVIL Shiraz Heathcote Victoria Australia
Description: Redbank’s badge, the Anvil, is a symbol of times gone by when the early settlers handcrafted their farming implements with the heat of the blazing forge and the strength of the anvil. This strength was apparent in the hard working migrants who established a thriving farming community in the rugged High Country of North East Victoria. Today a small, select 'family' of growers, some direct descendents of the original pioneers, produce premium fruit for the wines of Redbank. Vineyards that are lashed by blizzardly cold winter winds and buried in snow for part of the year emerge at harvest with grapes of the highest quality that enable the Redbank winemakers to produce superb cool climate wines. The Anvil Shiraz has a lifted nose showing blackberry and mulberry, with violets and white pepper. The nose displays the regionality of the wine, with the complexity coming from touches of chocolate, tobacco leaf and toasted oak. The palate is elegant with the sweet blackberry fruit balanced by very fine, silky tannins. The flavours are of spice, chocolate and well integrated French oak, with a mouthwatering finish. Heathcote is very different to the other high altitude vineyards used for most of the wines from Redbank. The climatic conditions in and around Heathcote region are tough. Recent prolonged drought and severe frosts have tested the resolve of the hardy grape grower. However, low rainfall, warm days and cool nights provide ideal conditions for ripening the Shiraz fruit. Simonsig Shiraz Stellenbosch RSA
Description: 17 months in small oak and about 35% in big wood. Small oak, mostly French with 11% American oak. Very light egg white fining before bottling. The oldest Shiraz vineyards on the Estate were planted in 1973 and the yields are sometimes as low as 4 tons per hectare. In 1993 a new planting program was started for Shiraz and only the best available clones were planted. These clones are all virus free and come from South Africa, France and Argentina. The new clones ripen earlier with high sugar levels and an abundance of colour. The yields are also higher and a green harvest was done just prior to veraison. Garnet red colour. The nose shows pepper and fynbos or dried protea flavours with toasty vanilla oak sweetness. Spicy complexity with lively fruit lies gently on the palate and a soft tannin structure rounds of this medium bodied Shiraz. Silver award at the 1999 Veritas Awards. www.simonsig.co.za (12 x 75 cl)

Elderton COMMAND Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia
Description: The Elderton Command Shiraz has established an enviable reputation since the first vintage in 1984. It is truly one of Australia's best and most highly regarded Icon wines. The Elderton Command Shiraz grapes are grown on a selected portion of the Elderton Estate vineyard, from vines planted in the early 1900s. Grown on rich river silt soils and red brown earth over limestone, in a Mediterranean climate with cropping levels less than four tonnes per hectare. Minimal pressing, long fermentation, long term maturation and 12 months bottle age prior to release, make this quality wine complex and balanced with a long-term cellaring potential.
