Description:
Colin Glaetzer established Glaetzer wines in the Barossa in 1995. Colin had previously made some of the finest wines in the Barossa, including the renowned E & E Black Pepper Shiraz and Ebenezer range of wines. The wines have great concentration and complexity, with none of the over-ripe character that can mark some Australian wines. The fruit has a natural intensity of flavour. Bishop Shiraz shares many qualities with its 'big brother' Glaetzer Shiraz. This full-bodied wine is made redominantly from 30 to 60-year-old vines at Ebenezer and always contains material from the oldest 80-year-old vines. Description: Fruit for the Ebenezer range of wines are picked predominantly from 30 to 80 year old Barossa vines ensuring that the wines are rich and full bodied with intense varietal and regional character. When selecting the fruit Barossa Valley Estate look at all their vineyards and pick the best blocks from a variety of soil types to ensure complexity of fruit flavours. The Maturation process occurred in 50% new and 50% 1 to 2 year old American oak for 18 months. This Shiraz has a deep red colour with dark purple hues. The bouquet is showing lifted plum fruit with savoury smoked ham characters from oak maturation. The palate is sweet, with luscious fruit on the front, as well as dark plum and blackberry with subtle charry oak complexity on the back palate. A well balanced wine showing good harmony between fruit and oak. This wine can be cellared up to 10 years. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £110.71
