One of the most temperamental grape varieties, Pinot Noir vines thrive in these the cool, windy rolling hills that span the southernmost tip of Napa and Sonoma Valleys, developing small crops of vibrantly flavored fruit. Extremely gentle handling through all phases of winemaking enabled Mondavi to bottle this wine without filtration after 10 months of barrel ageing. This has produced a deep red coloured wine with aromas of black cherry, rose, forest and warm spice complexity that fan out across the palate. Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville California
Description: At 90 years of age, Robert Mondavi remains the global emissary for these wine. His vision was to create wines in California that belong in the company of the great wines of the world. Robert Mondavi is known for producing hand-crafted wines of distinct style. Representing the best of California wine growing regions, including the legendary Napa Valley, each of the wines offers unique qualities and characteristics. Robert Mondavi Winery is located in the heart of Napa Valley, California. The first major winery built in Napa Valley in the post-Prohibition era, Robert Mondavi Winery helped establish the foundation for the modern-day California wine business. Its mission-style architecture, with the expansive archway and bell tower designed by Cliff May, has become an enduring landmark that evokes California's winemaking history. All of the grapes for this wine were grown in the world-renowned Oakville region surrounding our winery. Designated an American Viticultural Area in 1993, Oakville is distinguished by an alluvial fan extending from the base of the Mayacamas Mountains that form the valley's western border. The Oakville bench, which lies against the hills, has well-drained soils that allow deep rooting and the development of complex flavours in the grapes. Mondavi selected all Oakville bench vineyards for this wine, including 82% from Robert Mondavi's historic To Kalon Vineyard. Mondavihand-harvested the grapes into 40-lb. boxes during the cool morning hours. The clusters were then hand-sorted on tables in the To Kalon fermentation cellar for optimum quality. The grapes were destemmed and lightly crushed directly into a new 17-ton oak fermentation tank. The must was fermented with a combination of native and cultured yeast for layers of complexity, and follwed this with 24.5 days of skin contact to soften tannins. After the free-run wine was drained off the pomace, the drop-gate was opened to gravity-convey the pomace to a gentle basket press. The wine was then gravity-fed to barrels to undergo malolactic fermentation and ageing. To achieve natural clarity, the wine was racked three times during 16 months of ageing in traditional French oak chateau barrels . The wine was then bottled without fining or filtration. The ripe, sweet fruit character of the Cabernet Sauvignon exudes creme de cassis and juicy blackberry character. Complex nuances of spices, vanilla, minerals and cedar weave through the lush fruit flavours culminating in a long finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Robert Mondavi Moscato D'Oro Napa Valley California
The MOndavi Moscato d'Oro is made from the white Muscat Canelli grape which has an intensely perfumed character. There are only limited plantings of the delicate Muscat Canelli grape in Napa Valley and Mondavi selected these grapes entirely from our Wappo Hill Vineyard in the Stags Leap District American Viticulural Area . This region, located on the southeastern flank of Napa Valley, is renowned for its unique volcanic and gravelly loam soils. Mondavi tasted the Muscat Canelli grapes repeatedly in the vineyard to assess flavour development. When the grapes reached optimum maturity, they were immediately hand-harvested. Next the grapes were gently pressed in whole clusters in an enclosed membrane press to capture the grape's delicacy and minimize tannin extraction. Cold-fermentation of the juice took place in stainless steel tanks with a yeast strain selected to accentuate the variety's exotic floral character. Fermentation was stopped by chilling when there was still about 12.5%-unfermented sugar in the wine. This level of sweetness, balanced with crisp acidity, enhances the lush fruit flavours of Mondavi's Moscato d'Oro. Moscato d'Oro has aromatic notes of honeysuckle, ripe peach and citrus that weave through the silky, sweet flavours and crisp finish. (12 x 37.5 cl)

Its mission-style architecture, with the expansive archway and bell tower designed by Cliff May, has become an enduring landmark that evokes California's winemaking history. Mondavi hand-selected 93% of the grapes for this wine from the Los Carneros region, which spans the southernmost tip of Napa and Sonoma Valleys. This region, designated an American Viticultural Area in 1983, has become famous for developing intensely-flavored Pinot Noir grapes that produce wines with vibrant fruit character. The Los Carneros AVA is known for its strong winds, nutrient-lean, clay loam soils and a nightly blanket of cold fog rolling off the San Francisco Bay. 45% of the harvested came from grapes at the Robert Mondavi Huichica Hills Vineyard, a site planted to more than 23 clones of Pinot Noir for flavour complexity in the wine. The clones were selected for their small, flavour-intense berries, looser clusters and color intensity. The balance of the wine comes from other cool climate vineyards with complementary flavours. This Pinot Noir wine has opulent flavours and a silky, seductive texture giving the wine layer upon layer of dark red cherry, floral, cola and spice character. (12 x 75 cl)
