Fruity Dry Whites
Description:
The Fiano di Avellino is straw yellow in colour, with intense fruit and fresh, floral perfumes. This wine has a youthful vivacity and zingy acidity on the finish which keeps it fresh, and acts as a delicious foil to the waxy, fruit character on the palate. The Vesevo estate is located in the high, mountainous area of Avellino, in the Irpinian hills in Campania. The vineyards are situated at between 450 and 550 metres above sea level, in the path of cool breezes blowing off the Bay of Naples. This same breeze has, over the centuries, blown volcanic ash from Vesuvius inland to give the soil here a poor, volcanic character. Indeed, the name Vesevo is the old name for Vesuvius. Despite being so far south, this is one of the latest regions in Italy to harvest. (6 x 75 cl)

Vesevo Taurasi DOCG Campania
Description: Vesevo Taurasi is deep red in colour with intense aromas of red berries. The wine is beautifully poised on the palate, with nice oak balance and a wonderful freshness. This wine is in a class of its own, as was attested to by the fact that it has won the Southern Italian Trophy at the Decanter World Wine Awards in three of the last four years, first with the 1998 vintage, then with the 2000 and 2001. Despite being so far south, the Irpinian hills of Campania is one of the last regions in Italy to harvest. Vesevo’s vineyards are situated at between 450 and 550 metres above sea level, and are influenced by a cool breeze that blows off the Bay of Naples. The flavours obtained in the vineyard are then preserved in the winery by Mario Ercolino – formerly winemaker at, and co-founder of, I Feudi di San Gregorio. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £129.89

Vesevo Greco di Tufo DOCG Campania
Description: Made from 100% Greco grapes, Vesevo Greco di Tufo has a bright, straw yellow colour, and an attractive, fresh fruit and floral nose. With hints of white peach on the palate, it is almost Viognier-like in style and has excellent length, with a dry, fresh finish. The Vesevo estate is located in the high, mountainous area of Avellino, known as the Switzerland of the south. Avellino is in the Irpinian hills in Campania. To keep the flavours of these vineyards in the wine, the must is chilled immediately and fermented at 13°-14°C rather than the higher fermentation temperatures prevalent in Italy. The wines then remain in stainless steel tanks until bottling, capturing the pure flavour of the wine. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £65.64

Vesevo Sannio Falanghina Campania
Description: Sannio Falanghina from Vesevo is scented and zingy, yet has the sort of depth of flavour seldom found in this grape. Cooler fermentation temperatures than are the norm in Italy result in a purity of fruit being captured in the wine. Unoaked, this wine is a definitive example of the native Falanghina variety. Despite being so far south, the Irpinian hills of Campania is one of the last regions in Italy to harvest. Vesevo’s vineyards are situated at between 450 and 550 metres above sea level, and are always subject to a cool breeze that blows off the Bay of Naples. The flavours obtained in the vineyard are then preserved in the winery by Mario Ercolino – formerly winemaker at, and co-founder of, I Feudi di San Gregorio. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £109.10
