Contadi Castaldi Sparkling Brut Franciacorta Description: Contadi Castaldi was founded in 1991 by Vittorio Moretti and in 1997 he passed the reins to Mario Falcetti, an expert agronomist and oenologist. In choosing the name, the company wished to keep ties with tradition alive: the Contadi were once the counties into which the lands of the Castaldi were divided – the Castaldi being noblemen who had the right to take the best produce from every harvest. Meanwhile, with its logo and the shape of the bottle, the company wanted to affirm the value of an innovative course of action that demonstrates its desire to offer a contemporary approach to the taste of the Franciacorta. Contadi Castaldi has its headquarters in Adro which, according to historical sources, is an open, light, calm place which 'burns' with life force. Adro is one of 19 municipalities in Franciacorta authorised by the Consortium for the cultivation and production of grapes for producing Franciacorta and Terre di Franciacorta wines. This wine is produced from a 60 hectares estate planted with 80% white grapes including Chardonnay, Pinot bianco as well as 20% red grapes such as Pinot Nero , Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet franc, Merlot, Nebbiolo and Barbera. The harvest is done manually with the grapes transferred to small boxes. Next, manual selection of grapes on special sorting table occurs while the objective of using very low technological impact in winemaking is evident through the moderate use of sulphur dioxide, use of the force of gravity to load presses.BR

Energetic notes in this Franciacorta are evident as this wine draws its character and colour from the virtues of the delicate grape skins of the Pinot Nero grape. Herbaceous, balsamic and refreshing notes reveal the audacious use of monovarietal Pinot Nero that delivers concentrated freshness and aroma. The finish unveils a pleasantly spicy undertone, with definite hints of chocolate and tobacco, almost evoking the mysterious energy of the maple woods that flourish on the high ground of Adro, where this Rose originates.

Bellavista UCCELLANDA Terre di Franciacorta Bianco DOC
Description: The colour is bright pale gold, the bouquet intense, deep and lasting, the velvety flavour is harmonious and full of personality. Entrepreneur Vittorio Moretti’s success in the building industry allowed him to indulge his passion for wine in the creation of a small estate. It began virtually as a hobby, but over the years it became the focus of Moretti’s work. With the gifted enologist Mattia Vezzola at the helm since 1980, Bellavista now produce wines of real finesse and individuality. The 50 hectares of vineyards are cultivated according to organic principles, and planting densities are high in order to limit yields per vine. In cellars carved into the hillside above Lake Iseo, vinification reflects both avant garde techniques and many of the traditions of Champagne. Long ageing on the lees in bottle is de rigueur for the sparkling wines, and the barrique is employed with great subtlety. For the Franciacorta wines, 40% of the juice is barrel-fermented. The resulted house style is characterised by an elegant balance, classy yeasty nose, a very fine perlage and persistent mousse (12 x 75 cl) Price: £271.00
