F. wines epitomize the winemaking know-how of Les Vins Skalli venerable vines, patient vinification followed by eighteen months of aging in French oak barrels, under the expert advice of Michel Rolland, who assists Les Vins Skalli with winemaking. The vinification is traditional and involves long maceration periods in order to encourage the extraction of both the substance and the aromas. The wines are all vinified and aged separately for 18 months in French oak barrels. After one year, Skalli proceed with the definitive blending, which will melt together harmoniously during the last 6 months in barrels. A dark red coloured wine with a nose of small red fruit combined with nuances of caramel. A refined wine with a great ampleness which never ceases to expand throughout the tasting. The tannins, present but perfectly granular, contribute to this sensation of volume. Notes of toast and undergrowth. The finish is remarkable for its length marked by the perception of a refined touch of wood and jammy black fruit. (6 x 75 cl)

The wine is harmoniously balanced, combining structure and volume with tannin that is noticeable but smoothed in a structure reminiscent of chocolate. Description: F., the most prestigious brand of Les Vins Skalli, was created in 1998 with the 1996 vintage. F. wines, christened in homage to Francis Skalli, father of Robert. F. wines epitomize the winemaking know-how of Les Vins Skalli venerable vines, patient vinification followed by eighteen months of aging in French oak barrels, under the expert advice of Michel Rolland, who assists Les Vins Skalli with winemaking. The grapes are harvested at night. This is followed by an 8-hour skin maceration at a cold temperature before pneumatic pressing. Static settling of the must takes place at a cold temperature; the clear part is then transferred into barrels to undergo the alcoholic fermentation. This stage lasts for approximately 10 days. The barrels are then regularly stirred every 8 days for 6 months. Putting the lees back into suspension allows us to enrich the wines, fix the freshness of the aromas and provides mild aromatic notes . In 1999, we carried out a malolactic fermentation on 54% of the total volume to strengthen the aromatic complexity and conserve all of the vivacity of the final blend. This wine shows a straw-yellow colour, slightly golden. The powerful nose expresses honey and candied fruit aromas . On the palate it is ample and unctuous with aromas of yellow peach flesh combined with refined notes of wood and vanilla, all enhanced by a richer sensation of honey. The finish is rich, mild and the persistence of the vanilla and cream flavours strengthen this sensation. (6 x 75 cl)

Francis Ford Coppola DIAMOND COLLECTION Red Label Zinfandel California
Description: Since its inception, the Francis Coppola Diamond Collection has been an expansive endeavor to create consistently high-quality wines that are pure expressions of each varietal. They sought out vineyard sites across California, which would ensure superior grapes year-after-year, and employ precise winemaking techniques to showcase the true character of the fruit. 'Winemaking and filmmaking are two great art forms that are very important in the development of California. They both start with raw ingredients-in the case of wine, the land and the grapes, and in the case of film, the script and the actors' performances. The winemaker takes these raw materials and ferments and blends. He says yes to this batch, no to that one. The director does the same thing: a series of yeses and nos, from casting and costuming to edits and sound mixes. In both cases you have to start with top notch raw materials-whether it's the land or a script.' -Francis Ford Coppola (6 x 75 cl)

Francis Ford Coppola DIRECTORS CUT Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast California
Description: When Francis Coppola chose Sonoma County as the home for his new winery, he did so because of the area's beauty and winemaking potential. By selecting Sonoma, Francis provided the winemaker Corey Beck, a Sonoma native, with the opportunity to make wines with grapes grown in his proverbial own backyard. Director's Cut wines are the result-appellation-designated wines from Sonoma'sdiverse and distinctive appellations. Once harvested the crushed grapes immediately and cold soaked the must for threedays to stabilize the colour. It was then fermented in open-top fermenters for nine days, with punch downs three times a day. The result is a silky, yet plush wine with crushed cranberry and allspice aromas hinting at clove and nutmeg. Barrel aged for 12 months in French oak, this is a great reflection of the Pinot Noir grape, it has beautiful flavours of cranberry, cherry, dried strawberry, and sweet moderate tannins. 'Winemaking and filmmaking are two great art forms that are very important in the development of California. Francis Ford Coppola DIRECTORS CUT Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley California
A 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that would create a real terroir wine with pure varietal flavour. As a result this Cabernet delivers enticing aromas of cola, cherry, and eucalyptus before revealing dark, rich berries, cassis and black cherries, which is typical of fruit grown in the illustrious Alexander Valley. Well seasoned for 24 months in new and used French oak, the tannins have a delightfully velvet-like texture, partly because of the barrel ageing but also from the incredible ripeness achieved this vintage. Together, they make this wine a smooth, decadent experience even when young. 'Winemaking and filmmaking are two great art forms that are very important in the development of California. Francis Ford Coppola DIRECTORS CUT Chardonnay Russian River California
The Russian River Valley climate is sculpted by a regular intrusion of cooling fog from the Pacific Ocean a few miles to the west. Much like the tide, the fog ebbs and flows, arriving in the evening, cooling the area down from its daytime high by as much as 35 to 40 degrees, and retreating the following morning. This natural air conditioning allows Chardonnay grapes to develop full flavour maturity over an extended growing season. The Chardonnay fruit are crushed whole-cluster and then fermented entirely in French oak barrels to achieve a seductive, round texture with quintessential Russian River Valley flavours of green apple, honeysuckle, and sweet vanilla with citrus notes. Its sweet perfume previews its palate with hints of honeysuckle, crisp apple, and orange blossoms. 'Winemaking and filmmaking are two great art forms that are very important in the development of California. Francis Ford Coppola DIRECTORS CUT Zinfandel Dry Creek California
Growing Zinfandel in the Dry Creek Valley straddles two worlds. One consists of the traditional farmer who dry-farms head-trained, spur-pruned vines. Balance is attained by virtue of the vines' old age as well as early canopy management and fruit thinning when needed. The other employs more modern methods, including bilateral cordon, spur-pruned on-wire trellising, drip irrigation, and carefully manicured canopies. Francis Forrd Coppola source our Zinfandel grapes from vineyards on the benchlands and hillsides which are farmed both ways. The combination of the area's climate, our vineyard sites, and the two types of farming methods used produces excellent fruit with intensely concentrated flavour. This Zinfandel was blended with a small amount of Petite Sirah for 12 months in French oak. Half the fruit was crushed whole berry and the must is fermented in open-top fermenters for eight days, with punch downs three times a day, to ensure maximum flavor and color extraction. After fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak adding a wonderful toasted spice and French vanilla essence to its heady aroma of rum raisin with hints of black currant and red cherry. Sweet raspberry jam with currant and red spice flavors are wrapped up in a soft and luxurious texture with moderate tannins. 'Winemaking and filmmaking are two great art forms that are very important in the development of California. Francis Ford Coppola DIAMOND COLLECTION Silver Label Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir grapes are harvested in the early morning hours, crushed, and then cold soaked for 48 hours to elicit color and aromas. During fermentation, the grapes are punched down four times a day to intensify flavors and extract tannin. Finally, the wine is aged in small French oak barrels. The wine has exceptionally dark colour, which is not typical of this varietal. It exhibits explosive aromatics of crushed raspberries, cranberries, and wild lavender. Impressive concentration, due in large part to the well-draining soils of our Monterey vineyards, the tannins are supple and the finish on this wine is extremely lengthy. 'Winemaking and filmmaking are two great art forms that are very important in the development of California. They both start with raw ingredients-in the case of wine, the land and the grapes, and in the case of film, the script and the actors' performances.
