At Franciscan Oakville Estate our wine's style is driven by the blue-ribbon location of our vineyards, at the mid-southern end of the Napa Valley. Our vineyard property is at the core of the Oakville viticultural area and our neighbors include Mondavi, Opus One, Beringer, Silver Oak and Groth. The prestige and recognition achieved by the wines grown on the Oakville Estate, as well as the consistently high ratings and top awards received by the wines grown on this estate, attest to the fact that the climate and conditions produce grapes of exceptional quality. A blend of 73% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec it is a deep red colour with good depth. Complex aromas of rich ripe cherry, chocolate, caramel, cinnamon and blackberry with spicy, toasty oak and a slight earthiness hint. Rich, with excellent balance and soft velvety tannins this blend has a long rich finish with a hint of sweetness from the oak. (12 x 75 cl)

A blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc this wine has a ruby red , garnet appearance with good depth. In the mouth, loads of the same red fruit found in the nose is evident, beautifully in balance with sweet oak carrying through to a long finish. The tannins are supple and round, an elegant wine. Use of wild yeast in a portion of the fermentation and sur lie aging adds layers of complexity. In 1990, after discovering promising potential vineyard property in the Casablanca Valley, Agustin Huneeus realized his dream of returning to Chile to found Veramonte. Veramonte's Casablanca Valley is surrounded by coastal mountain ranges creating a diversity of unique microclimates and terroirs. Its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean provides ideal growing and ripening conditions for Chardonnay. The valley floor provides a cool Carneros-like climate, while the terraced hillside blocks have warmer temperatures, similar to the northern Napa Valley. This 'super-premium' wine uses Carmenere as the base together with some Cabernet Sauvignon. Using premium quality fruit from the Alto de Casablanca estate, the young wine is aged for 12 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels. Definitely a 'terroir' wine, Primus is a limited production wine that showcases the rare Carmenère variety, a grape once prevalent in Bordeaux in the 1800's when Chile first began importing vines from France. Chateau Trebiac Graves Rouge
Description: From an estate located in a pine forest, an appropriately piney wine, the estate of Trebiac dates back to the 18th century when it was a priory and it was eventually donated in 1868 by the owner to a religious congregation of Franciscan nuns. The nuns decided to clear away a chestnut grove and plant some vines, as you do. Today the estate is still being run on behalf of the sisters. The vineyard itself consists of 25 hectares of vines on the heights of Portets at the edge of the aforementioned pine forest. Both the soils and subsoil are composed of gravel a few metres deep. The blend is Merlot 60%, Cabernet Sauvignon 30% and Cabernet Franc 10% and the wine spends three weeks in vat and eighteen months in old oak before release. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £74.35
