The Goriska Brda wine cellar was built in 1957 and is a great viticultural region. The Slovenian word 'brda' means 'hills' and this is the simplest description of Goriska Brda: a region of low rounded hills in the western part of Slovenia, with a Mediterranean climate. The soils of Goriska Brda are marl and sandstone and the hills are very prone to erosion, so most of the vineyards must be terraced. Near the coast the vineyards open out towards the Mediterranean and take advantage of 2,900 sunny hours a year. This wine is a yellow-gold colour with fresh-fruit aromas as well as hints of apple, strawberry leaves, grapefruit, quince, and also caramel. The body is round and rich, with a lemon and grapefruit appeal and a nice finish. (12 x 75 cl)
