Chateau Grand Puy Ducasse 5eme Cru Classe Pauillac
Description: Chateau Grand-Puy-Ducasse is located adjacent to Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste in the commune of Pauillac. It takes its name from its location, Grand Puy translated to mean big hill. The vines average 25 years of age and the plantings are 62% Cabernet Sauvignon and 38% Merlot. One parcel is adjacent to Mouton and to Lafite, while another parcel is on a gravelly rise near Batailley. The wines characteristics usually include a rich polished, duly concentrated taste with noble tannins. It contains splendid fruit like blackcurrant and often cherry and plum plus restrained oak and vanilla notes with earthy, spicy elements. 'Medium-bodied, with excellent depth and ripeness and the Cabernet Sauvignon component dominating its personality, this is a fine Grand-Puy-Ducasse...Anticipated maturity, 2002-2015.' Parker, 87.
