Out of respect to this bygone monument the domain that was built on its ruins bears its name today: Chateau Gres-Saint Paul. Property of the Serviere family since 1830, the 26 ha of vineyards are situated in the commune of Lunel bordering the Mediterranean Sea and overlooking the Camargue and Etang de L'Or. The annual rainfall ranges betwween 600 and 700 mm with uneven distribution where there are 50 to 70 rainless days in summer. During the scorching summer heat the terroir benefits from the evening cool breezes off the nearby Mediterranean Sea, while this cool microclimate at an altitude of almost 50 meters allows the wine to obtain extremely fine aromas. Description: In spite of the ferocious summer heat Johannes has produced a wine rich in minerality. A benchmark Auslese to enjoy now or for the future. Selbachs have been cultivating Riesling vines in the Mosel since 1661. Today Johannes Selbach and his wife Barbara run the Estate which is now one of the leading producers in the Mittel Mosel. There are 10.6 hectares of vineyards including holdings in Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, and Graacher Dowmprobst. The grapes are hand picked and then fermented in traditional in large oak barrels.
