Description: Named after the 7th moon of Uranus Portia, and in Latin meaning 'Offering', is a selection of premium red wines from Bodegas Faustino. Portia Prima is the second wine to be released by the Bodega from their winery in Ribera de Duero. Portia Prima is the result of a meticulous selection of Tinta Fina del Pais , from the the best plots in the vineyard. Once in the winery , the wine undergoes 15 months ageing in new French Oak and after light fining with egg whites the wine is aged a further 8 months in the bottle before release. A deep cherry-red wine with youthful hues at the rim, it is showing intense aromas of ripe dark fruit that blend into the wooded aromas from the new oak and develop against a background of peppercorns. Hints of vanilla accompanied by toasty and balsamic notes produce a meaty style in the mouth while the sweet, agreeable tannins develop over the long finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Donnafugata MILLE e UNA NOTTE Contessa Entellina Sicilia
Description: The Contessa Entellina zone was given DOC status in 1994. The region enjoys temperate winters and summers marked by substantial fluctuations between daytime and night time temperatures, which assure the production of wholesome grapes that are perfectly ripe and rich in aromas. This wine is called Mille e una Notte or Thousand and One Nights. The wine label designed by Gabriella Anca Rallo captured this image with the sky dotted with stars while the palace on the label is that of Santa Margherita Belice. Harvested in September, the grapes are vinified in stainless steel at 26-30ºC and with skin contact of about 12 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is placed in mostly new French-oak barriques for 15-18 months, while bottle fining takes at least 12 months. A wine with a big structure and a remarkable personality not only does it have great depth and complexity but also ripeness and richness of texture. (6 x 75 cl)

Brac de la Perriere Chateau De La Pilonniere Brouilly
Description: Vintners and wine makers since 1574, the Brac de la Perriere family owns some of the most picturesque properties in Burgundy, Beaujolais-Maconnais, and Cotes du Rhone regions. In 1784, when Jacques Joseph Brac de la Perrière moved to Château de la Pilonniere, located on the slopes of the Brouilly hill, he did not think that he would be guillotined 15 years later. His sons, grandsons and descendants have maintained and developped the 9 hectare estate, always keeping the family tradition of vinifying in the original vat-room. A typical Brouilly wine, it is elegant with a deep red colour and red fruit aromas. A great Gamnay, this wine is showing blackcurrant flavours that combine with a silky texture and ripe tannins on the finish. (12 x 75 cl)

La Cave Du Vin Blanc De Morgex et De La Salle VINI ESTREMI Vallee D'Aosta
Description: The region of Valle d'Aosta has an ancient history of winemaking, even though the steep mountain slopes and harsh, cold climate might suggest otherwise. Historically however, wine production from the region was confined to individual 'backyard vineyards' of usually no more than 2,500 square meters. In 1983, thanks in part to the efforts of the region's local government, these efforts were officially acknowledged and the Cooperative estate, Cave du Vin Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle, was born. This cooperative took control of its newly built winery, well-equipped with all the technology needed to produce high-quality fine wines and began producing the region's traditional wine varieties. The local growers of the co-op are for the most part retired persons who tend their vines as they would a garden, following specific guidelines set up by the cooperative itself. Today the Cave du Vin Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle produces over 140,000 bottles annually of 5 different traditional Valle D'Aosta wines. This unfailing commitment to the Valle D'Aosta wine-making has literally saved the region's history and culture from extinction, making these beautiful wines, and a part of Valle D'Aosta's culture. (6 x 75 cl)
