Louis Latour Santenay Rouge AC
Description: Unusually for the Cote d'Or the system of pruning employed by the growers of Santenay is the Cordon Royat rather than the simple Guyot. The producers argue that the increased richness of the soil in their vineyards needs to be compensated for by not overly burdening the vines by keeping them young and vigorously pruned. They produce admirable, lively wines, with a very abundant and special bouquet reminiscent of strawberry and cherry. Soil: Rich marland limestone. Vinification: Traditional open vat fermentation with 18 months ageing in oak barrels. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £176.85

Gustave Lorentz Pinot Gris Reserve Alsace
Description: Established for the last two hundred and fifty years in the vine-growing area of the medieval city of Bergheim, the vineyard extends over the steeply sloping south face of the Grasberg hillock, at an altitude of between 220 and 320 metres. South-facing and at a distance from the Vosgian front, the steep slope favours a warm and temperate micro-climate, together with even temperatures and hygrometry. In the heart of the Ribeauville fault mosaic, split into layers of limestone andmarl from the lower and mid-Jurassic periods, the Altenberg is composed of very stony, reddish, somewhat shallow soil of marl, sandand lime, commonly referred to as clayey-limestone. The rich and delicate aromas and full-bodied mouth are the characteristics of this wine combined with great length. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £151.43

Louis Latour CHATEAU CORTON GRANCEY Grand Cru Rouge
Description: The winery of Corton-Grancey dates back to 1832 but it has only been since 1891, after the ruinous phylloxera crisis, that the Chateau and its purpose built cuverie has been the heart of Domaine Louis Latour. This particular wine is only produced in years when the Pinot Noir grapes reach perfect maturity. The vineyards from the following holdings are planted with vines with an average age of over 40 years. After being aged for 18 months in the cellars of Corton-Grancey, each cask is then meticulously tasted and appraised and, then, only the finest casks showing the best colour and bouquet and capacity to age will be blended to make the final wine of Chateau Corton-Grancey which only appears in exceptional years. Soil: Marl-based soil, limestone base. Vinification: Traditional open-vat fermentation at the Cuverie of Corton Grancey followed by 18 months in oak casks. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £714.78
