BrownBrothers King Valley Barbera
Description: A deep, vibrant ruby colour displaying fresh crimson edges and a fragrant nose of sweet, ripe mulberry and plum with a whisper of oak. These aromas follow through to the palate joined by soft flavours of cherry. This elegant wine has a refreshing acidity on the front palate and finishes with a luscious, lingering rush of mulberry and gentle tannin grip. Can be enjoyed young but will also benefit from cellaring for 3 to 4 years. In spite of small quantities and limited releases in its early years this variety has carved out a strong following amongst wine lovers who have fallen for its flavour, elegance and versatility as an accompaniment to a wide range of Mediterranean inspired dishes. The grapes are sourced from Brown Brother's Milawa vineyard and harvested in parcels during April at a range of baumé levels from 13.5 to 14 degrees. After fermentation the wine spends 15 months in a mixture of 2, 3 and 4 year old French and American oak barriques and puncheons. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £89.92

BrownBrothers Tempranillo Victoria Australia Australia Description: THE WINE Tempranillo is an innovative varietal for BrownBrothers that's being released nationally for the first time due to its great success at Cellar Door. The wine has been developed in BrownBrothers Kindergarten Winery, a mini winery focused on trialling small batches of new varietal wines with big potential. In the glass this wine is a bright crimson red with aromas of red berries and plums, cassis and integrated fruit and oak. These characters follow through to the palate which has savoury characters, fine chalky tannins and firm acidity. An elegant, medium bodied style of wine that can be cellared in the medium term for 4 to 6 years from vintage. THE GRAPE VARIETY Tempranillo is said to be Spain's answer to Cabernet Sauvignon. It is the variety that puts the spine into a high proportion of Spain's most respected red wines and is the most widely planted grape variety in the highly regarded Rioja region, in the rugged north-east of the country. Its grapes are thick skinned and capable of making deep coloured, long lasting wines. Being an early ripening variety has no doubt given it an added edge and ability to thrive in the often harsh climate that predominates in the higher reaches of Rioja. TECHNICAL INFORMATION The Tempranillo grapes used to make this wine were grown at our own Heathcote Vineyard and other vineyards around Victoria. The fruit was harvested from mid March to early April at a range of baumé levels from 13.0º to 14.0º. The wine spent 12 to 18 months in a combination of new and two year old American oak barriques and puncheons before bottling. It was bottled with an alcohol of 14.0%, a pH of 3.5, and an acid level of 6.2 g/L. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £81.53

BrownBrothers PATRICIA Shiraz King Valley Victoria Australia Description: The style selected for the Patricia Shiraz was to show intense, dense, round, supple and ripe fruit flavours balanced with integrated oak flavours. American oak was chosen as it complements the berry and spice flavours of these Shiraz grapes. The wine was barrel fermented for added flavour complexity. Intensity and elegance are hallmarks of this wine. The palate has concentrated fruit, great length and a fine-grained tannin finish. The Patricia name is a dedication to our matriarch, Patricia Brown, for the love and hard work that she gave the family for more than 60 years. Her contribution has been fundamental in making BrownBrothers the success it is today. To truly honour Patricia's hard work and dedication, the wines have been cared for and nurtured from the vineyard to the bottle with total commitment for the wine, reflected in the viticulture and winemaking techniques. It is the most widely planted variety in Italy and is a fairly vigorous variety with a spreading habit of growth.
