The winery is located in the picturesque Waipara Valley, while they have four vineyards also owned by SherwoodEstate in the famed Marlborough Region, at the top of the South Island. Based on nearly twenty years of growing grapes and making wine, SherwoodEstate now specialise in Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. SherwoodEstate produce three ranges of wines the Clearwater Range, the SherwoodEstate Range and the the Stratum Range. The Clearwater range represents the very best varietal single vineyard wines from SherwoodEstate's own vineyards in Waipara. This is very much a hand crafted range both in the vineyards and winery, here meticulous care is taken to ensure that the wine produced is of the highest quality and reflects each vineyard's unique characteristics or 'terroir'. The fruit was hand harvested from the West Melton vineyard and in the winery a gentle pressing was undertaken with the juice fermented and aged on lees in French oak barriques . Following a light fining and filtration the wine was bottled. Matured on the lees to give this wine its wonderful complexity and character, this Chardonnay displays richness and concentration of flavour. Tropical and stonefruit aromas are evident on the nose, while the palate is full and rounded with a long persistent finish. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £160.24

SherwoodEstate produce three ranges of wines the Clearwater Range, the SherwoodEstate Range and the the Stratum Range. The Sherwood range proudly carries the name of the winery and reflects SherwoodEstate's commitment to the highest quality. The wines are varietally focussed and come from selected parcels in the SherwoodEstate Vinyards in Marlborough and Waipara. All the fruit was hand harvested and upon arrival at the winery, the fruit was destemmed, lightly crushed and gently tipped into open top fermenters. Yeast was added to initiate the ferment after a five day 'soak' period. Three times per day the cap was hand plunged and spent an average of 16 days 'on skins'. Next, Malolactic fermentation and oak maturation was undertaken for two months prior to blending and bottling. This deep red coloured Pinot Noir displays ripe, sweet plum notes with an edge of complexity on the nose. The nose follows onto the palate complemented by the rich and rounded style supported by fine grain tannins and smooth finish. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £119.66

A richly concentrated white, benefiting from barrel fermentation in French oak it has a complex, nutty, mealy character in the mouth with a bright citrus fruit lift, it culminates in a long, concentrated finish with touches of mineral and honey. This Sauvignon Blanc is produced from grapes grown on SherwoodEstate's Selmes Road and Hammerichs Road vineyards in Marlborough. After harvest, the grapes went to the winery where the freerun juice portion was selected for barrel fermentation and ageing. Next, the wine spent 10 months on lees prior to blending, fining and bottling. The Clearwater Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc displays ripe passionfruit aromas supported by touches of capsicum. The fruit was harvested at night and transported to the winery where the fruit was gently pressed. Selecting only the free run and light pressings the juice was settled and cool fermented for an average of 19 days. Following an extended three month period of yeast lees contact the various parcels of Sauvignon Blanc were blended together, lightly fined and filtered prior to bottling. Based on nearly twenty years of growing grapes and making wine, SherwoodEstate now specialise in Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. SherwoodEstate produce three ranges of wines the Clearwater Range, the SherwoodEstate Range and the the Stratum Range. The Clearwater range represents the very best varietal single vineyard wines from SherwoodEstate's own vineyards in Waipara. This is very much a hand crafted range both in the vineyards and winery, here meticulous care is taken to ensure that the wine produced is of the highest quality and reflects each vineyard's unique characteristics or 'terroir'. The Clearwater Riesling is from selected fruit at the Whitestone and Weka Creek Vineyards in Waipara. The fruit was harvested in excellent condition and selecting only the free run juice, the Riesling was cool fermented for 21 days. After an extended yeast lees contact the wine was light fined and filtered prior to bottling. This Riesling displays both delicacy and finesse.
