Tommasi Viticoltori is a family firm founded in 1902 by Giacomo Tommasi and today the estate is run by the 4th generation of family. From grandfather Giacomo's tiny vineyard, the Tommasi estate has grown steadily and now extends over 135 hectares of hillside vineyard blessed by mother nature, not only by a magnificent landscape, but more importantly by its perfect suitability for grapes. The family owns exceptionally well situated estates for the production of high quality white wine in the D.O.C. regions of Soave and near Lake Garda for Lugana, Custoza and Bardolino . In addition, it has vineyards in Valdadige, a valley created by the Adige river in the mountains north of the province of Verona. The vineyards for this wine come from the hills of the classic Soave zone, selected for its enviable southwest facing slopes and flaking limestone loam soil. The rigorous selection of clones placed only in their most beneficial position in the vineyard and the consequent reduction of clusters per vine, result in the creation of grapes with unique characteristics. After spending 4 months in stainless steel tanks this Soave is Moon yellow in colour with an elegant, delicate bouquet showing characteristic hints of flowers. This blend of Garganega and Trebbiano is lean, velvety and gentle, with an almond aftertaste. (12 x 75 cl)

This wine is produced from the three Valpolicella classic grapes Corvina Veronese , Rondinella and Corvinone . Great care is taken with the grapes as they are placed on small open racks and left to dry by cool breezes of autumn and winter until the following February before they are used in the winery. Aged over 36 months in Slovenian oak and a further year in the bottle has produced an intense ruby red coloured wine. A warm, ripe nose that is both intense and refined gives way to a complex, smooth, full bodied, characteristic wine. The palate is exceptionally intense with chocolate and coffee background that is superbly balanced with power and smoothness. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £373.61

This blend of Corvina , Rondinella and Molinara spends 6 months maturation in stainless steel tanks followed by a further 6 months ageing in Slavonian oak barrels. This has produced a ruby red coloured wine with a rich spicy nose and intense, spicy, sweet cherry flavours. A well balanced red wine it is full of ripe fruit flavours that give way to on the long finish.

This wine comes from the family vineyard 'RAFAEL' which is perfectly situated in the most prestigious hills of the region, produces what may be the best grapes for the production of 'Valpolicella Classico Superiore'. The combination of careful attention to the cultivation of this ancient vineyard, rigorous selection of grapes and their meticulous vinification, all contribute to the creation of this extraordinary wine in understandably limited quantities. This wine is a blend of Corvina Veronese , Rondinella and Molinara and spends 18 months in Sloavian Oak barrels before being released. This has produced an intense ruby red coloured wine with a rich spicy black pepper nose showing a hint of truffle. Always keeping a careful eye on tradition while ever ready to accept innovation, the Tommasi family has planted a vineyard composed entirely of Pinot Grigio grapes, in the heart of its newest fields in the Valpolicella Classica region. Called 'Le Rosse', its vines have been subjected to close planting and the severest pruning, resulting in an extremely low yield of extraordinary richness. This 100% Pinot Grigio is moon yellow in colour with a clean and spicy fragrance showing typical hints of tropical fruit.
